Awesome, can't wait to rebuy a game I already own. Backward compatibility is for losers.

this is remaster with updated visualls and brand new battle mode with new tracks plus all prior dlc included.

this is better than backwards compatibility.

No its not better than backwards compatibility. Stop being a fanboy. Geesh.

are you serious?

if you were just able to play mk8 at 720p 60fps for free and thats it....it's like it wouldnt even matter.

There's a large number of improvements and changes, plus the fact that it's portable makes it a big interest for me :)

That's what I mean, yes. :)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is kind of the strongest execution of the concept. Mario Kart 9 releasing on the same console would feel a little redundant if it was even more of the same.

In order to really justify Mario Kart 9 (Remembering that there hasn't been two Mario Kart titles on one console yet) it will have to really shake things up.

Interesting... Do you have any ideas? I liked what Sonic Transformed did, where the stages were changing per lap, and you would be in a kart, flying and in water on the same level.

Mario Kart 8 is a solid foundation, but I think for those who have already played Mario Kart 8 to exhaustion on Wii U, I can understand why they (me included) would like to see something fresh.

I think re-releasing Mario Kart 8 on Switch is a great opportunity to experiment with Mario Kart 9; given that the system will already have a traditional Mario Kart game should fans wish for that experience. We'll see. :P

So do you mean that you would like to see Mario Kart 9 really shake things up? I feel that could be interesting, but if it's just more of the same (with say, a release of 30 maps this time) I just feel that they will have trouble justifying it, as this deluxe version really does have a huge amount of content. It's like Smash 4, they've made it so huge now, making a new one must be so daunting! I'm not sure what direction they could go in with 9 though!

I still am. Disappointed we dont get a brand new game,

Did you play MK8 on the Wii U?

I am sure a new one will be coming haha

Yeah, it was one of 4 games I bought for the system. I liked it and the new courses. I dont think I would get this remaster for Switch if I do buy it someday.

I'll probably end up picking it up since I loved MK8 (plus being able to play some Battle Mode with friends would be cool), but yeah, I hope they have a new one on the system soon too

I wouldn't expect a new Mario Kart for 2-3 years at least IMO. But do people really feel the need for a new one right now? This will have 48 courses (new and old), 42 characters, battle mode with 8 maps, 200cc, 1080p and 60fps. Do we really need another one? I'd rather just see more courses added via DLC.

Oh my goodness, gamer.no. "Sadly, the open world is often empty and soulless, lacking a proper soundtrack, characters or stories that make for a truly unique experience." Some people just really don't get the point. I also wonder whether he's even playing the same game everyone else is.

The only reason a game would be better on the Switch is if you to play it on the bus or in starbucks. If you just want to sit at home and play on that enormous screen then the PS4 will beat it every time.

And i'd expect 3rd party games to be more expensive on Switch due to the higher production cost.

That is the point of this thread. Games that you feel would be good utilizing the benefits of the Switch, to take it on the go. Way to point out the obvious.

Yeah, fair enough. I apologize for overreacting, I just feel it's unfair to soley compare it to a exclusively TV console, when it's not meant to be that.

I get where you're coming from though.

Hmm. We were already in full on insult territory, gotta say I'm surprised by this turn of events haha.

Cool, then we're good man. And yeah, it's a tricky machine to judge. As a handheld? Hell yeah, it's a sweet ass device. As a console? Much to be desired.

And a lot of us will be coming at this from a console gamers perspective, this forum in particular isn't that big on handheld gaming.

Even still, I don't think these games look bad. Video game graphics are at a point where just about anything can look appealing now. And with the more stylized nature of Nintendo games? It's really not a big issue. Personally, graphics are among the least important aspects of a game to me. But at the end of the day, comparatively speaking, the Switch (as a console) is incredibly far behind the competition.

Haha, yeah. Like you said, I mistook you for one of the other Zombies, one can only admit when he was wrong.

Totally agree, it's very tricky to judge. I'm mostly using it as a handheld so far, so I can understand my experience will be drastically different from most. Either way, no matter how we judge it, it's the general public who will decide if it's a success or not. I'm curious to see how they receive it!

Hmm lol. Reading comprehension friend.

Anyways, I get what you meant to say, and no, don't confuse me with the rest of these zombies. You're being overly defensive about all this and coming out like a fool in the process.

I'm not obsessed with technical graphics man. I think BotW is a beautiful looking game. Fast RMX isn't a bad looking game at all.

But it's quite obvious what Blueinheaven was getting at and it should've been obvious what I was getting at. The Switch is grossly underpowered as a console. We can make excuses for it all day, we can talk about a lovely art style here and there, but it doesn't change the fact.

You can continue shilling away calling people shmucks for not drinking the koolaid, or you can just enjoy what you enjoy while recognizing that it's not all perfect.

Yeah, fair enough. I apologize for overreacting, I just feel it's unfair to compare it to a exclusively TV console, when it's not meant to be that.

I get where you're coming from though.

Can you please explain to me how the strongest handheld of all time has "crap graphics", even if you're being a schmuck and just analyzing it from a docked point of view, it's still not "crap". I've been playing Fast RMX in handheld mode and it's unbelieveable, then I have these schmucks claiming it should be more powerful. Ah man, these people make my head hurt.

Yeah, so Nintendo went all in on a hybrid rather than a dedicated console. That's all good with me tbh, as it may greatly benefit the library in the long run. Thing is, I'm not a handheld gamer, but I do like Nintendo games. What does that leave me with? Playing on a docked Switch that is only microscopically more powerful than its already underpowered predecessor, the WiiU.

I don't think it makes me a "shmuck" for using Nintendos latest machine how they intended. This machine is an all in one solution for their handheld and console gaming audiences. I'm in the latter and this is the machine I got.

You being a shill doesn't make me a shmuck, that's not how this works bud.

If the occasional instance of a forum user talking about a situation in a realistic fashion makes your head hurt, you should probably just head over to Gamefaqs or go hang out in a Youtube comments section.

Later.

Occasional instance? You fools are everywhere on this forum. You're the one trying to tell me games like Fast RMX have "crap" graphics, not the other way round. Do you understand the meaning of crap?

@mojoz: I will confess that I dont know enough about sterling to give a definitive explanation, but from what I understand he leans harsher than most. You kinda have to get a sense of where their middle is. Here at gs or ign a ok game is like a 7, for others they would say an ok game is a 5. Its all about context, you have to know the standards of the source.

I get you, but I also feel like the reviewer should also know the standards of the reader and the industry... otherwise why are you reviewing? If he wants to create a new expectation of reviewing, why not ditch the scores entirely and do something new is what I would say.
