Nintendo is one of few game developers in the world where you can buy their games without knowing much about them.
Because you know that you will be guaranteed quality.

Nope. The world is great, and the characters resonate together really well. The story is lacking, but it's not like it's outright garbage.
This pretty much sums it up, I really enjoyed the story but can see that it was lacking in areas.
@putaspongeon: I don't know who that is but you obviously have a deep adoration for these "guys".
Do you wear your hair in that emo style?
Blast Japanese pop music in your Kia Soul?
I'm honestly curious
You make me cringe :'(
looks like a low budget 3ds game
sorry but ffxv has set a new standard for jrpgs.
FFXV was fantastic, and this will be too. Dragon Quest stays traditional and I really respect that, can't wait to get some traditional JRPG gameplay!
And XV's wasn't?
Square Enix's own market research has shown that the Final Fantasy brand today is nowhere near as big as it was a decade ago. FF was a huge franchise back then, so there was pressure on critics to give FFXIII a free pass. But now that FF is a shadow of its former self, there's no longer any pressure on critics to hold back their criticism of FFXV.
There is however, the wish for the franchise to "return to form", which can also cause score inflation, where reviewers think they succeeded but they really didn't.
It is like Force Awakens, hailed at release, bashed weeks down the line.
And it starting to show that the scores in the first batch of reviews are inflated, as now harsh criticism has come out weeks after.
The Force Awakens had a ton of positive PR. It was being hyped as a return to form. The only bashing it got before release was from the alt-right over its supposedly "SJW" casting. And after the film came out, the reviews glossed-over its flaws.
The same is not true for FFXV. It was already being bashed by fans before it released. It wasn't promoted as a return to form, but a departure. And there isn't any new criticism we've discovered about the game that early reviews didn't already point out.
But its still overrated by critics who want the game to be the franchise savior so they gloss over flaws. And it was considered by many critics a "return to form" (as in quality, not style). And while not hyped as much by its fans, it was hyped by the press.
The very notion that FFXV is a 9 out of 10 is ridiculous considering how much behind its competition it is. It shows that reviewers had big name bias and glossed over flaws, flaws that they would rip other games for.
So its in the same boat as FFXIII. Praised by critics at launch, but then bashed months and years later.
I don't even see how it's comparable to FFXIII, I couldn't even bring myself to finish that game. I get upset seeing a lot of negativity surrounding FFXV, because I really enjoyed (and am enjoying) my time spent with the game.
However, I do actually agree with a lot of the negative points that are being made. I just don't feel they ruined the experience enough for me to get upset about it. From my point of view, it's technically underrated since I'd happily give it a 9/10. For you, it's overrated. Who's right? Neither.
60FPS is all I want, hopefully Nioh delivers on that front.
Games , games and more games is all i want and in that front Playstation is far and beyond this generation. Exclusive wise , pff , you just cant miss all those titles that are out or even worse , what is coming. Tooooo many games to just pass even if you dislike SONY and PS brand.
30FPS is a nightmare but hey , this is a common console problem we need to bypass and focus to what matter most and imho thats what each console can offer games wise. Xbox gave up all the exclusives to brag about real 4K or 60 fps next year on ... multiplatforms while having zero exclusives to offer ? Oh well... whatever !!!
PS4 is on another lever , PRO or original , doesnt really matter. Games >> 60fps/antialiasing/4K when it comes to consoles imo ( im not talking though to be totally crap like Wii U was hardware wise )
If you want 60fps / true 4K and all sort of filters at the same time , PC is the only place to be imho.
Yeah I get what you are saying, but I'm talking about PS4 Pro not PS4. I have a high-end PC as well, but I bought a PS4 Pro for the amazing Sony exclusives.
I can deal with 30FPS, but I'm also willing to pay extra money (PS4 Pro) to get 60FPS.
60FPS is all I want, hopefully Nioh delivers on that front.
@texasgoldrush: Did the series really decline after Final Fantasy VII? It's one of my favorites from Final Fantasy, and I don't think it declined seeing how it spanned more than 7 more titles after that...lol
FF7 was the pinnacle of the series, people need to just learn to accept that and move on, even if it wasn't their favourite.
This.
15 got me excited for 7 but I still need to go back to World of FInal Fantasy
Also yakuza games are coming out in america every half month starting january, nioh is coming, nier automata is coming, horizon zero dawn, resident evil 7, persona 5, etc etc
If 7 comes out next year, it better hope it doesn't come out against ni no kuni 2 or I'm getting that instead.
Is world of final fantasy any good? I'm a big FF fan (mainline games), do you think I'd like it? The initial impressions of the graphics didn't interest me.
Edit: I also loved Ni No Kuni
Easily Final Fantasy XV for me, but both are fantastic games.
Quality. The games are developed with love and care, they are always guarenteed to be of the highest quality (yes, every mainline mario game in the history of Nintendo has been extremely high quality). They are not thrown in your face every year like Call of Duty, they do not exist just to rob of you of your cash. Even if Mario is childish (which I don't believe it is) that is not a relevant point for it not being likeable.
