I thought the game was pretty mediocre, but I didn't play it much- it seems like most of the IGN critics had a similar reaction at first, but it grew on them after time, so maybe my assessment is unfair.
The show seems like a pretty typical sy-fi production. I kinda think the show was made specifically to give all the rejects on "Face-Off" a job :/
whooooot- I love this game, and I love the idea of turning it into an independent title. Unlike a lot of folks on here, I love the neon coloring and over-saturated environments. It reminded me heavily of "Running Man". I say go all-out 80's on this mug, and include as many tropes from action/sci-fi as possible :)
I'm kinda hoping for the best. I don't think there have been any games associated with Del Toro's other films. Maybe he'll have some degree of creative control that will insure the game isn't a complete turd?
However, I have to agree with most folks that I see more ways for this to go wrong than go right; for instance, i'm pretty sure the X-Box "Pacific Rim" game is going to probably use Kinect, if I had to guess. Boo :(
Oh man, the mystery! The first Homeworld is still, by far, one of the best games I've ever played. I certainly hope this new publisher does the title justice, or just re-releases the original in HD.
