Microsoft has not learned their lesson. They continue to mingle in the affairs of design decisions instead of allowing the developers breathing room to make compelling kick ass games. Look what happened to Recore. They changed the art direction after those stupid focus groups wanted a more "westernized" look. The downward spiral continues....
Falling behind schedule and numerous issues with the game engine were the main reasons for the cancellation. Many senior staff members were asked to take a one month leave of absence last autumn to recharge their batteries from working so hard. When they got back, Scalebound was way behind deadline. Microsoft re-evaluated the project deciding to cut the cord instead of spending more money and delaying things further.
