I had the exact same problem. I talked to microsoft support and Activision support, that didn't help. I downloaded the file from Dll files and it still didnt work. I ended up getting it to work myself. I went to my computer, right clicked on the disk drive which the dvd was in, went to explore and ran the setup from there(setup .exe I think it was). First time it didnt work, second time it installed fine.
besides the characters, it's an improvement. The engine runs better, looks better... they have new physics effects. The guns have been balanced, way more guns have been added in, 3 new playable infected have been added in.

agree with all of this. Although, I find melee weapons abit overpowered. i can understand the machete being one hit kills, but stuff like the frying pan and nightstick shouldnt really kill zombie when hit on the feet. I got boomed and all I had to do was stand still whacking the oncoming horde, each hit took down like 2-3 at a time. thats just my 2 cents. other than that I love it! the new gore effects are great!
lean removed? sensing some fail here. and not just that. the no ded servers, not being able to kick people in ranked games etc. whats happened to IW???
Depends on the type of mods your looking for. I like Real LifeSis or Xconfig for A gfx mod, but for some custom maps, try volcano, battle of the twin islands, paradise mod...
I had a similar problem in 2005 with the release of the king kong game. My view would just spin in 360 cirlces automatically. With some testing, I managed to find the problem. It didnt seem to like the game controller I had plugged in. If you have any game controllers plugged in, USB, PS/2, etc, unplug them and restart the game. Hope it works.
I hear alot of hype behind the theif series, sadly Ive never played them. I reccomend splinter cell, 1,2,3, hitman 2 and blood money, Oblivion actually has some decent stealth in it and when you enhance it with mods it can be an amazing stealth adventure.
