I should be receiving a 6870 tomorrow. I may get another one later in the year when prices drop. I also intend to get a dedicated sound card that can do Dolby Digital Live so I can hook into a spare 6.1 receiver that I have. I need to get a Blu-ray drive, so I can add those discs to my home media server. I'd like to upgrade my pair of 30GB SSDs to at least 60GB each so I can install more games on them.
Other than that I am working on an enclosure for my PC. The last case upgrade I switched over to rackmount for various reasons, so I am doing up an enclosure that incorporates a 16U rack and houses all of my water-cooling hardware with quick disconnects for my PC or whatever else I might want to hook up to it. I'll post picks when it is done.
I currently have dual 3870s; however, I have a 6870 en route. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
I'd be impressed. My 955 BE ran 60 degrees C under full load with the stock cooler without an overclock. Granted that was in the summer when it was warmer, but still.
Thanks for looking. This may end up being a grand experiment.... or horrific failure.
So, long story short, I am trying to seperate my custom water-cooling system from my PC. Radiators, pumps, fans are in a seperate housing from my PC. Currently everything is being powered by some extra molex connectors from my PC's PSU running out the back of the case to the water system housing. I would like to have a dedicated 50w(ish) PSU for the water cooling components that turns on when I turn on my pc, or can be turned on/off via switch.
I've searched around on the net and haven't found anything that specifically suits my purpose. I may not be using appropriate search terms. I have found a 12v switching power supply http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/PS-1265/12-VDC-5.4-AMP-POWER-SUPPLY/1.html that I was considering using, but I don't really know what I am doing as far as getting the circuits set up properly nor do I really know if it would be appropriate anyway.
Anyone have any constructive thoughts or ideas on the matter?
I recently changed my avatar. It's holiday themed... maybe not the right holiday.
The cover system takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it epicness ensues. Co-op split screen makes the game soo much more fun.
From what I have played in no particular order:
Aliens vs Predator 2
Bioshock
F.E.A.R.
^ Anything worth being done is worth being done right. While a 5830 might be an improvement, I'd rather throw down the extra dough and not worry about it for a while.
