Buying an elite will make no difference since it only offers HDMI as an extra, !??!

The cables you use to hook up the 360 to your TV should have also a TOSlink (optical) socket to hook up an optical cable to your 5.1 surround system, afaik the system doesnt haveSPDIF out.

SDTV aint THAT bad, totally playable ffs!

My philosophy is if you going to pay for a HDTV buy the best you can afford to last longer, dont go for crappy ones.

A reason why u want to do this might have helped :)

If your 360 isnt connecting properly try setting it as the DMZ in your network then give it a go?

EDIT EDIT EDIT!!!!!

Dont do that, instead try this solution i found:

I have an XBox 360 and was connecting to XBox Live throught a netgear WGT624. I found the only way to have my NAT as open is to make sure DHCP is enabled in the router and make sure the 360 does NOT have a static IP. I cleared all the LIVE ports i was told to forward and don't have the 360 IP in the DMZ (the 360's IP is now set as dynamic and not static). Finally make sure UPnP is enabled and reboot the router. Works fine now and have no restrictions on using XBox Live. :)

I know this is contrary to the advice on most other posts but it doesn't surprise me with that this router would act a little differently as i've been having all sorts of weird problems and gliches.

Hope that's of use to someone.

The gfx quality is not what i expected from all the hype etc... however the gameplay is totally the seller with this game so im happy i bought it. We had a few games on my friends projector in 720p and it DOES look good but its not the mindblowing graphics I was lead to believe from all the threads over the last few weeks...

... Halo 3 is totally playable and hell yes we had an 8 player juggernaught battle last night and it was awesome :D

Which codec did you encode them into? mp4 is the container but there are still a few different codecs.

If you get hold of x264 to encode them into H264/AVC that should play quite nicely.

The xbox should be able to stream videos in MP4 format (H.264/AVC......usually what iTunes is using) the system might prompt that a free media download is needed (2.5 megs or something) it should work if it is in MP4 or WMV format.

Without having a video iPod here i cant double check it but ive watched MP4 videos streamed from my XP pc no problem.

Until the newer premium is available with HDMI wherever you are....go for the elite. If its a matter of weeks then wait, otherwise just go for the elite.

The comment on black + 360.....pure opinion the colour makes no effect on the performance ffs.

It worked out an extra £25 for me to get the elite over the prmium so it was a no-brainer.

Correct.....the thread title really should be "the average age of 360 users on gamespot".
