If this fails backup then reformat your PS3 thats all I advise you try doing?

If 2.5 caused the problem..REMOVing 2.5 SHOULD RID THE PROBLEM

IF this does work I suggest you then download the 2.5 download from the Sony site and not off the LPB disc

cause if you dont make the correct folder the Firmware WILL not be read off the PS3

Oh definitely man..I actually did the 4 hour system restore...It killed all my saves ...and everything else is gone. Is there a different restore method that you are talking about??

what exactly is wrong with your system though...is it starting or anything? because there is the new recovery menu with 2.5 you can access....CosmoKing7717

Basically... I can do everything on my system ...all the interface is there everything works including the online store etc. The issue is that it wont read the discs...the little pool in the upper right corner pops up when I put a Blu ray disc or game in but it just sits there. Its almost like it knows there is something in the system ...but it wont do anything with it. Before I was forced to upgrade my firmware for playing LBP it would read discs just fine.

Id like to share my Sony customer service experience:

Called upo Sony, they asked when i purchased it, It was well over warranty, 1 year and 6 months old

Reguardless They said there WOULD NOT be any charges. Got my PS3 picked up on a Thursday, Delievered back to me on Monday (4 days) with nothing wipped and the same case

Dude...who did you talk to?? Cause the person i talked to said it was 5 months out of warranty and basically gave me the finger.. I bought LBP and had to do the update...so I got it off the LBP disc installed it and now my system wont read discs..

1. How long have you owned your PS3?
2. How often do you play/use your PS3?
3. How many times has it stopped working and needed repairs or replacement?

Wow...so i just finished talking to the service center at sony and they gave me ther finger basically. They said that because the system is 5 months beyond the warranty that I have to pay 150 bucks to get it fixed!!! Its their system...it was their update that I was FORCED to do so I could play LBP and now somehow Im responsible to pay for it...?? How does that make sense...

So I posted this in the firmware thread but no answers...yes .. i am impatient =P

Any news on repairs...really want to play my LBP and Res 2 comes out in less than a week.. come on sony..dont let me down :D

My thoughts? That according to the moderators, 'format threads' aren't allowed, usually because it highlights the fact that Blu-Ray winning benefits the PS3 - unless the thread is a 'format thread' created for the sole reason of bashing Sony. Like this one.
