Tighter timings will usually give you the better performance as long as the difference in mhz isn't too large. If the crucial wasn't getting that much negative feedback I'd say get the crucial. There are other 4gb configurations you can get that have lower timings for maybe about $15 more.

As for more memory being slower, and on vista, you've got to be kidding me. 4gb on vista x32 will perform better than 4gb on vista x64, even given the loss of not having the whole 4gb available on x32.

Unless the card is too hot or overclocked too far, then you wont have any problems. You can always underclock if you're getting errors/artifacts, overheating or whatever.

And yes, fan speeds are very important; make sure to increase if you overclock or it's too hot in your room.

They should give generally the same performance give or take a few frames on certain applications. However, I'm prettur sure you'll be using less power the the 3870 X2.

You'd be surprised what "extreme" cooling can do for you.

Check your manual or manufacturer to see if it's possible you can upgrade your videocard. Not possible on all laptops, but possible on some. Laptops aren't really fit for gaming. Atleast the newer games...

Transfer with a cd, usb drive or over network. You can copy the whole itunes folder, just make sure that your laptop has a fresh installation of iTunes though. After copying the folder/files you'll have to authorize your laptop to play the files. You're allowed to have up to 5 computers to play your music at the same time per account. Do this by authorizing the computer from "store" drop down menu. You can also deauthorize other computers if needed.

Really looks like your motherboard/ram are a bottleneck for your card.

You can't merge them all to work as one. Windows spreads the work load across the four cores. For games though, I'm pretty sure they have to be threaded to take advantage of dual and quad core processors. But yes... you will benefit from quadcore with future games.
