U do realise that microsoft has lost 8 billion dollars on the xbox brand so far.And until they dont make 8 billion they wont turn a profit on their gaming division.I hope u understand what i am saying.Maybe the TC and a bunch of you otherpeople should actually read the article and apply some basic reasoning skills.
How much did they lose in the 4th Quarter which just ended?
The answer is $1.20B
How much of that was a ONE-TIME warranty provision?
The answer is $1.06B
Meaning, how much was the routine operational loss?
The answer is $0.14B or $140 Million.
Which means that the division is on the verge of profitability. Indeed it will turn a profit in Q1 of this fiscal year. And a significant profit in Q2 which includes the run-up to Christmas.
You see my 14 year old friends, ONE-TIME provisions do not affect future operating results. There will be a profit turned in fiscal year 2008 which started July 1st and that is precisely why MS took the big bath late in the 4th Quarter of last year, which ended June 30th.

[QUOTE="musacircuit"][QUOTE="PS3_3DO"]Off topic damage control:lol:A few hardware problems for the 360 but overall it's a great console. Once the 65nm chipset is in the 360 it's going to be so much better. Second over 7 million people on XBL and I bet over half are gold subscribers. This holiday season is going to be great for MS.

How is that off topic? You clame M$ should leave the console business because they have operated at a lose last fiscal year, he stats that they are heading for a bright future. At least he backed his statment up with some facts, you have just been spining things. So in this "argument" we can only include premises that you find appropriet?
First of allhe says that 360 has FEW hardware problems!!Are u kidding me that 360 has few hardware problems. And that 65nm thing isnt going to solve all the problems atleast nobody can claim that it will considering how big and many the problems are. Then he says that there are 7 million xbl members and he says that more than half are gold with zero evidence and you say that he is stating facts. And besides how will this contribute much to profitabily. It's not that MS got all those members in a fortnight and besides LIVE is really cheap and doesnt really contribute much to income.
Yes the holiday lineup is good but so is the wii and especially ps3 lineup which means severe competition.Well i think i missed out the facts that hesupposedly listed. And remeber this isnt about good games and having fun and all that.
So what difference does it makes. It's still 2 billion dollars lost in 12 months.for the '07 Fiscal year.....not for the whole year of 2007. Damn kids probably dont even know what a fiscal year is....*sigh*.
anyway, im sure next fiscal year will be alot better with all the games being released.

And MS pulled in nearly 15 billion in net profit for the year, which is a 15% increase from last year. Yes MS is hurting, LOL!!! :lol:eastside49erIt's not about microsoft facing bankrupcy or anything:roll: but dont worry kids wont understand what this is about.

[QUOTE="musacircuit"][QUOTE="baddog121390"]Didn't Sony loose a few billion earlier this year?baddog121390Ya but it doesnt happen every year with sony unlike MS.:lol:Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't MS sell 40 million copies of Vista already? And what makes you think that Sony will be turning a profit with their console anytime soon? This is just sad what does vista has to do with this.
Because sony isnt actually making as big a loss from the ps3 as the accounts say. Why?Well because the sale of blue ray movies to ps3 owners dont go in the ps3 sales. And besides the situation is just not that worse BY ANY STRETCH of the imagination for sony. They have made a profit for over a decade now in the gaming industry and some losses after huge successes happen with many firms and projects.
But microsoft has not made anything in 6 years.DAMN 6 YEARS.And i bet they wont be making a profit for the next 5 years at the very least because they now have to first wipe away the 8 billion dollar loses considering it doesnt get anymore:lol: before making profits which i doubt will ever happen.
Whilst money hasn't really ever been an issue for Microsoft, someone higher up on the ladder HAS to be looking at all this loss of money with a disgruntled tone. somewhere in the range of 3 BILLION dollars LOST in one month. That isn't over the course of a year, that is in one month. That is harsh. This will be sure to turn some heads in Microsoft Corp. That isn't to say failure is eminent, but it sure as hell doesn't help the matter. And I love how lems are already damage controlling for Microsoft, and trying to turn this around to be about Sony. This is about Microsoft.0rinYes that is frustrating and just sad damage control.
dont worry lemmings, it hasnt flopped much as Xbox1 didsilverjikenYes indeed from a financial standpoint the 360 is flopping more than the original xbox which had 5 billion dollar losses in 4 years whereas 360 already has 3 billion in loses in just 1.5 years.
so does that mean they are 5mill from last gen and 2 billion from this gen in the hole? dang that is sad if truemazdaspeed-rx8Well actually 360 lost 1 billion last year and now 2 billion so that makes 3 billion. Then u add the xbox losses and that's 8 billion.
