mass effect you will se an unbelievable diffrence in HD witch is what made me eventually get HD

BenBenBen93

When I first got my HDTV I I popped in Mass Effect which I had just gotten as well. Well, imagine my surprise when Mass Effect looked dirty and blurry. I continued playin for like, 2 hours, complaining the whole time about the graininess. I finnally got curious and checked the video options and Lo and Behold!! ... The Film Grain option was toggle on!! I turned it off and WOW was the difference clear. Crisp and smooth.

Gears 2 dropped my jaw. As did COD: WAW (first level when the flares pop up and the Japanese ambush you for the first time :) Best looking game so far is a tie between Dead Space and RE 5.

I second that notion. I think that would be an awesome addition to the XBLA library. I can remember as a young kid pumping quarter after quarter into that machine. I got pretty far, I think ... Took me all afternoon and prolly like 10 bucks in quarters, lol.

I recommend Avatar: TBE. It will take FOREVER to get all achievements!!

Seriously though, FPS games are not known for their long campaigns. If you want a shortishone with a ton of multi replay value I highly recommend Left 4 Dead. If you want a game that will take a while to beat but has pretty much no playable multi then def. GTA4 is the way to go, though GTA4 is not a FPS it's the closest thing. Also, Fallout 3 is very engaging, very bloody, tons of guns and takes a while to beat, but no multi.

I recommend this though: either rent, Gamefly or buy used a lot so you can see for yourself what a game has to offer. I often get 2-3 used games and test em/stomp through them, return for credit towards more games, rinse and repeat. I rarely buy new.

I cried when I watched Old Yeller for the first time. I also cried when I read Where the Red Fern Grows. I can't stand watching those poor tortured dogs on Animal Cops, I want to weep and kill the mishandler at the same time. I could care less when humans die for the most part, but I am a sucker for a hurt dog.

So I vote for Fable 2.

I'm halfway through it and boy is it tedious. Yes there are some sweet moments (the funnest time I had was in the very beginning). It uses the Doom 3 engine so everything has a stupid shinyness to it like being wet and thick at the same time. The environments are dark and bland and the weapons feel too arcady. I would diverge from the crowd here and say it is a lackluster FPS with a cheesy story and bad dialogue. Only get it if you want more points and are willing to do anything to get them!

now a days it is dumb not to buy a game with good online play. you can beat a game in under 12 hours and then you have online matches that are infintite such as call of duty world at war and halo and the online is more fun then the actual game itself. Xbox 360 is awesome for onlinebut for a monthly price. I have a ps3 and most games dont have a good online match ex metal gear 4. the plus to ps3 is that its free online but you can only play one player from your system unlike xbox 360 that allows you to play with guests, worth the money if you have brothers or friends.Snakewiseman

No, it's not dumb. Online play IS good. It IS fun. But it also gets old REAL fast. I need more variety ...

I have always liked a good multiplayer game. I remember tearin it UP for hours and hours on the OG games like Tribes and Unreal Tournament. The fact that your playing with real people makes it SO much funner.

Having said that I have always liked single player affairs just as much. I think in order to play a game by yourself it needs to be really good. Good RPGs include Oblivion, Fallout 3, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssy. Don't know how much you like RPGs though.

Bioshock is a single player game and it's excellent. Grand Theft Auto 4 will take you a while to complete, it's a great game but it's multiplayer kinda sucks. Also, the new GH or RB music games can eat up days and they HAVE online multiplayer but sometimes it's not so fun, especially when they keep dropping on you.

Umm, racing games have a LOT of replay value like Forza 2 or Burnout. It just depends but I wouldn't knock a game just because it doesn't have online multi or it's not a major factor.

The bottom line is ANY HDTV will look great, especially compared to an SDTV. Size? Depends ... Options? Depends ... Brand? DEPENDS!!!

Ok, I'll try to be more useful here.

SIZE: well ... it, uhh, DOES depend ... How close are you planning on sitting to this TV? Checkhere for the ideal size range for your viewing distance.

OPTIONS: they range from ambient light sensors to automatically brighten or darken your TV, to "game" modes that strip all of the filters out of the processing. There are many, they are varied. I will leave which are important up to you. Have a computer you want to view on the TV? Then get one with an RGB input. Don't have a home theater audio system? Look at TVs with beefy speakers. Click here for an awesome website that helped me decide what options I wanted. Also CNET has awesome tv reviews.

BRAND: I went with a Sharp for a balance of options, picture quality and PRICE. Yes, I would love a Sony or Panasonic with their ultra good picture qualities but I wouldn't love the price tag very much. On the other side of the scale, Vizio or LG make good CHEAP sets but you might get what you paid for in terms of hardware quality or picture quality. This aspect of TV purchase is very personal and depends on what you feel is a minimum standard of quality, so I choose not to recommend a certain brand.

I WOULD recommend an LCD over a Plasma if only for a few reasons. One isthe burn-in effect. Plasmas can get burn-in in the beginning of their lifespan (the first, what, 100 hours of use?? something like that) but after that they should be fine to use. Plasma TVs DO have deeper blacks typically than LCDs but LCDs are quickly gaining ground on that front. Remember that if it's a plasma you use refresh rates but for LCDs you use the response time to determine how "fast" it is. Mine has a 4ms response time and I have NEVER seen any blur. Also, if you go LCD make sure it has a wide viewing angle as you don't want to have that old rear-projector effect as you walk by. LCDs also use less energy than plasmas to run.

Do yourself a huge favor though and shop around. You put two Best Buy links in the post but no others. Whatever TV you decide on check other electronic sites for deals or discounts. You can often find the same TV on sale somewhere else, especially if you don't mind it shipped to you from some online site. That's what I did. My TV came without a hitch, unbroken and has worked great now for about 6 months.
