Halo 3 is going to come out for pc around the same time as DX11, when every game will look like crysis, and Halo will still look like Halo and nobody will play it.

Anyways get the gaming rig, while I suspect Halo 3 and Crysis will score about the same, you have to take into consideration the hype of Halo 3 and knock a few points off. Although I'm a bit worried about the Crysis multiplayer. Far Cry's multiplayer was abysmal, I'm not talking about the gameplay, but I couldn't even connect to it. EA is a bit better about that then Ubisoft but I expect there will probably be around 1GB of patches before it gets working properly, and this might hinder Crysis.

Also Halo 3 is on a console, so while it will be insanely fun for a while, after a few months you will grow bored of it. The only thing new will be maps. While Crysis is on PC and there will probably be lots of mods and other goodies.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Despite the name, few people play it. I used to play it but quit when the servers stopped using the minas_tirith map, its quite possibly the best map ever made.

It depends on whether you can stand EQ1's graphics. There is tons of content in EQ1, but the graphics and controls are dated and for some(like me) really annoying. But EQ1 is dirt cheap right now, for $15 you can get the game and all 14 or so expansions and a month of game time.

32 days! Are you using dial up or something? In 32 days you could probably save up enough to buy 5 copies of Far Cry!

Its Ubisoft, they have no clue what the terms "Customer Service" or "Ease of Use" mean. I suggest you delete it and go and spend $10 and buy a copy, you do have a CD-ROM drive with your dial up right?

Once Walmart screwed up the barcode price of Far Cry and I got it for 14 cents. They even did a price check on it!

If you can, try playing it in windowed mode, then get winamp and set it to "always on top" and place it somewhere where it doesn't obstruct the UI of your game. Although I recommend you have a dual core processor because video playback will use up most of a single core cpu, dropping your FPS significantly.

EBgames gave you a free copy of Battlefield 2 when you preordered MoH:Airborne, so basically BF2 for $5.

I remember back when I was like 7 there was an old computer in the corner of the room that nobody ever used. I booted it up and started playing I can't exactly recall how I got into a game, since it was DOS and my computer experience at that point was like 5 minutes on Win 95. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but it was still fun. The game was Master of Orion, which I still consider one of the best games ever, and I really wish they'd port it to DS. There was also some kind of castle defense game where you built a castle and defended it from little invaders or something. Anyways that was my first real PC gaming experience and I remember how interesting it was to just click around. Of course now I won't touch a game unless it has quality graphics and amazing gameplay and its nice to think back to when everything was new!

Also the old Sierra adventure games, those were fun too.

Edit:

The game was Castles!

Just looking at the screenshots brings on waves of crippling nostalgia...

Guitar Hero 2.

Nah, I'm just kidding(please don't flame me).

I'm going to have to say Halo, it does actually have a story, although you have to sit through the cutscenes to actually understand it. But I chose it because it doesn't actually make you read. Don't get me wrong, I'm not illiterate or anything, actually I read at least a full sized novel (350+ pages) every week. Its just that I don't want to have to stop what I'm doing ingame to read a couple of paragraphs on what I'm supposed to do next. Also I've never really liked the story telling in Japanese games like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear.

I also enjoyed Zelda: the Wind Waker, even if the gameplay was classic zelda format the artistic design and twist on the world(hyrule is underwater) coupled with the great expressions on the character's faces really makes it stand out. Unfortunately theres still no voice acting so all of the grunts really detract from the whole story thing.
