Only Elite360's can do 1080p over HDMI. The rest sku's dont even have the port so your max resolution is 720p over component which is still quite gorgeous

LOL that monitor is orange... :D

Just look for ~24"+ with low response times to prevent ghosting... and resolution support you want... I bought a Dell 24" 1080p for only $350... and it works flawlessly... I have my PC plugged into it through DVI, 360 through VGA, and PS3 through HDMI and all work fine and display perfect 1080p... I highly recommend it... and Dell will most definitely be having sales after Thanksgiving...

Squeets
Actually i dont want or need a 1080p monitor as I already have a 32"bravia (720p) where most of my gaming is done. But for generla web surfing and MMOs i would like a better monitor. Currently Im on a Dell 17" crt so 22" or less would suffice.

With payday in a couple days plus black friday im hoping to snag a deal updating my desktop. While im pretty knowlegdeable when it come to the pros and cons of Regular Lcd and plasma televisions, Desktop monitors seem to operate in slightly different ways. With lcd monitors, how much response times and contrast ratio is decent or pretty good?

Also, can anyone recommend some keyboards and mouse. Ergonomic preferably but not a must.

A brand and model number would shed light on this problem

Most likely, though assuming you wanna use them for gaming make sure it has an Optical input otherwise you wont be getting true 5.1 sound.

To further drive home a few points made already. Optical is Digial therefore any cable is as good as anyother cable. The optical cable im using on my 360 is a cable i bought for my PS2 that was advertised as a PS2 optical cable.

HDTVs automatically adjust to incoming signals so you dont have to fiddle with the settings everytime you change a channel or an input

HDMI was produced in 2003. HDTVs (lcd and plasma) more than 3 years old are considered ~old~ because of how fast the tech behind driving the picture improves (akin to GPU's and processors.) Yes you have a Plasma because Panasonic is known more for its Plasmas than its LCDs and LCDs dont "burn in" like how you describe, they ~retain images~ for a short while and thats only if you've left the TV on a static image for ~several~ hours (like 20 maybe) whether or not the burn in goes away depends on how severe it is.*All* ps2 games benefit from a component cable on an HDTV, but some can utilize the cable to the ps2's max capabilities i.e. 480p.

Sounds like the connectiong plugs involved crapped out(or just the card in general).
