@jonny_dutch It's meant to be a puzzle game i.e. "Deep and engaging puzzle-platforming". It's not a puzzle game at all. It's a game where you overcome obstacles - if anything, it's a timing and exploration game. I just finished the 2D flash version of Portal. Now THAT is a puzzle platformer, not an overly deep and engaging one, but one nonetheless.
You kidding me? Been playing this for 1 1/2 hours. From a gameplay perspective it's not as great as everyone makes it out to be. The puzzles (they're not really puzzles, more just like a series of bland obstacles to get through) are more frustrating than they are imaginative and thought-provoking. Once you fail a couple of times you're more inclined to put the controller down than try again - there's never a "just one more time" moment like other puzzle-based games have. It's more like "I can't be bothered with this". True about the controls. Maybe the game gets better but so far I don't know why its praised so much.
Haha Chris Watters' delivery is funny. With regards to entering a planet in No Man's Sky. As cool as it is, it should take longer to enter a planet to make it more realistic and give the sensation that you are entering a planet instead of zooming in to a giant polygon. As it is now, there's not enough of a build-up and not enough separation between space and terrain.
@Kevin-V @Valkaras GS reviews are accurate - you just have to understand the rating system. I can't stomach ACIV but I still think 9/10 is appropriate. It deserves the rating - it just isn't my type of game.
