People will continue to make single player games. It will just be done with smaller budgets , most likely. Expectations and the need to SELL 5 - 8 million copies in the first few months, that's a bigger problem to me. Kingdoms of Amalur cost FAR to much money, with it being a totally new franchise , it was never going to hit those crazy sales expectations, didn't matter how good it was. The witcher one didmt sell 8 million copies in a few months. Its taken 3 games and ten years to sell over 20 million copies. Popularity builds over time. Its hopefully a lesson learned. Its a shame this conversation is even happening, because the main reason I play games is for the single player experience. When I watch a movie or read a book, its not really a social thing. Even in a movie theatre, you aren't socially involved with everyone else watching the movie. Reading a book is not a social thing. Gaming to me is like reading a book, not social. With the exceptions of Call Of Duty Multiplayer, MMO, Battlefield , counter strike etc. But these games are NOT the games I spend hours on like Elder Scrolls or Mass Effect. Etc.
@purgatori: dude. FCK Nazis. Nothing more. Forget everything else. 27 million Russians died because of them. Countless Germans and countless Jewish and Europeans. FCK Nazis , period. The Nazis are responsible for so many WHITE deaths. More than any white on black crime , a bazillion times over. Also white surpremists are a confused lot. Nazis killed MOSTLY WHITE PEOPLE. Britain was close to being take out. It was pretty damn close, luckily the Brits survived while American reinforcements arrived.
I enjoyed the revamped original more than the new DOOM game. I found the new DOOM a bit to Arenaish. This series Might be my favourite shooters of the last few years.
@romeothebeast: I played no mercy, recently. It does have more in ring fun gameplay. The bizarre thing about it. Is it was ALSO aiming for realism.with the movement and the moves and the bouts could be 8-15 minutes long and it was pretty fun till the very end of the bout. The ai on highest difficulty, was brutal and not always easy to beat..that's something to note. The ai NEEDS to be as brutal as a really good player, in order for it to be truly challenging and rewarding and fun to play. I find with these new games, I'm always having to slightly give the ai some kind of advantage in some way purposefully , for it to win a bout, 85% of the time.
The Witcher Series. Fallout..elder scrolls. Original Mass Effect Trilogy. Old school adventure games. Even the Lego games. Arma. The original Ghost Recon. Splinter Cell. Hitman. The single player list is larger than my multiplayer list. I've played more hours of single player games than multiplayer, by far and enjoy them overall much more.
@beantownsean: I've held off on heaps of games these days till a STEAM sale, because of either broken games or waiting for an ALL IN ONE package to get released.
@Karjah: it depends on what the upgrades do exactly and what are these XTRA options in battle DICE is stating..because if a weapon can be upgraded to give an ADVANTAGE (could be something as simple as 5% faster reload times). Then if you pit a person with the same skill level against someone else with a similar skill level, yet lose every time because of an advantageous upgrade. Then you ALSO need that upgrade to compete. Forcing you to be concerned with the loot crates. Take call of duty for example without the upgrades, the player is most definitely at a massive disadvantage, if you dont use the correct perks. So it depends in what these upgrades do exactly.
Seriously. All these sports games should be released every 2 years. Not every year. I just want the Ai to be interesting and random, So I feel like every match, never feels the same.
