I really dont understand HOW music in a game, has a LIMITED lifespan, if a game is forever......this is the most FCKED copywrite law, that must be in existence. If you buy the rights to music in a game or a CAR in a game, it should be forever in the game...what a terrible, terrible law. It's the reason TOCA 3 , cant be sold anymore. Its one of the most fun and best racing games, ever made. Cant buy it, because of some stupid license limitation. There needs to be a new law. If you have something in your game, it can ALWAYS be used in that said game, forever. How come this doesnt cross over to movies? or does it? Does the soundtrack of Indiana Jones have a limited license??!?!?!

@marctheheretic: ahhhhhh, but Star Wars at least finished its Trilogy , that was the main goal THEN there was tons of spin offs. This Monster, hasn't even had an end game yet. Its only up to part 4 and theres like 20+ games. Star wars finished its trilogy in 6 years, with a beginning, middle and an end. We are up to the 10th year of Assassins creed without any kind of finale, game. Mass Effect was 5 years to finish the entire series. The Witcher took 8 years to complete its entire Trilogy, BUT it still got there with only 3 games. Or at least games like Knights Of The Old republic, they END with just 1 game and doesnt require any games afterwards. Maybe that was Assassins Creed's actual crime here, they ended the FIRST game with a cliff hanger, like it was going to be a trilogy or something. But it just kept going. Valve did that with Half Life 2 and we all hate them for it, because they never finished it.

@nyran125tk: Im not saying the graphics today are sht, no way. They are amazing. But the jump in graphics from one technological advance to the next. Isnt as big a leap now. As it was. Like You can look at a character in CRYSIS on PC from 2006, say one of the main characters adn they are FULLY comparable to todays graphics of characters. But the difference between HALF LIFE 2 to CRYSIS 1, which was the jump graphically before hand, was unreal. Now games have all got great graphics with slight improvements. Not giant leaps.

@sellingthings: resizing the hud to, would be handy. It's interesting the had these types of option in the original DOOM...from like 1995 lol.

I still have yet to see the JUMP graphically from games like halo 2 and Half life 2,F.E.A.R SWAT 4 etc to...........BANG Crysis in 2006 on PC only. That graphical jump from those era's between graphics and Crytek was out of this world. Never felt that massive leap in graphics again, yet anyway

@domatron66: If its not just for the nostalgia (because Nostalgia is big money , in some cases, with some Ip's). Then why wouldnt they update the controls? they didnt. Because it literally is for nostalgia. Updating the graphics by itself isnt going to make todays gamers care, to much. Look at minecraft? worse graphics out, one of the biggest sellers out. To todays gamers.

@domatron66: Probably true for the most part. Accept. I have an example of a counter point. I actually didnt get into the remake of resident Evil HD on PC and I played the original game recently to BEFORE i played the remake. The control fluidity , camera angles, all updated , smoother than the original. HOWEVER.................. I honestly preferred playing the original game in all its quirkiness and bad camera angles and terrible "WESKEEEeeer" voice acting and this is where this game stands to. Its a nostalgia hit for the 90's and introduction of 3D. It's FOR that audience and they are many.

Now the other example i have that I would love to see, is a TOTAL remake, of HALO. I really didn't get into the original Halo. I felt the gunplay, movement, (accept graphics) were actually terrible, even for that time period. I would love to see a total overhaul of that game now, with improved EVERYTHING, just to even enjoy it. Its all subjective.

If its big and boring, its a fail, if its big , boring, beautiful and authentic, its still a fail. If its big , fun , lots to do, story and characters great, mechanics fun, then it works, like Farcry 3 or GTA. I have to FORGET I'm playing a game in a large world, I have to genuinely feel like this universe could exist, to be ultimately invested in a LARGE map. Like Oblivion, or fallout 3. But as soon as i feel like im not connected to the world, then i normally get bored real quick, uninterested and sometimes, even stop playing and go play something else. I have yet to play Skyrim all the way through, but I finished The Witcher 1 and 2 and Mass Effect trilogy over and over. But its all subjective. I would rather have a group of small areas that are completely different to each other than 1 GIANT area, where everything feels the same, wherever I go.

I WANTED to finish half life 2 from start to finish, i honestly didnt care about finishing Metro 2033, the original as much. Haven't played Metro 2033 Last light. Strange comparison, really. Such different games.

One of my favorite levels in Half Life 2, is surprisingly the very quiet levels, like on the bridge or even just getting out of the vehicle and looking at the ocean as the waves crash against the rocks in half life 2 or on that highway, where there was no extreme ACTION POV scenes or LOUD music. It was quiet, just the noise of the ocean. Where all you hear is the waves crashing below you and its quite a quiet game. I loved that about Half Life. There's so many areas in Half Life, where its practically silence. Save for the footsteps and the echoing voices or bullets.

The music in Half Life is put in , in just the perfect moments, like the original Tomb Raider games.

Also all the areas in Half Life 2, something that Bioshock DOESN'T actually do very well. That is every single area, LOOKED and felt different in Half Life.running round the city, felt very different to running round Ravenholm and that felt REALLY different to just driving around the highways. Even different parts of the city felt very different to other parts of the city. Every stage or area or level , felt different. In Bioshock or even Halo 1 in many parts, every stage and level, pretty much feels the same. For example. and the rest of the game. The contrast is not as ginormous as Half Life games. They kind of show that in Left 4 dead 2. Like every area is completely different and feels different. Same with Half Lfie 2. Every area in Half Life 2 has a completely different atmosphere and purpose.

What engrossed me is the universe of it, the characters, were very vivid. They werent cheesy or out of place and all deserve to be in that world. The dialogue wasn't trying to be silly. It all seemed down to earth and natural. Even the quirks and little comedic moments, weren't forced in Half Life 2.

The gun play felt ridiculously smooth and accurate and fun. The movement, perfect. The stakes in the universe were very high and the I really did feel , like I needed to get Gordon freeman the HELL out of the city, to meet up with the resistance to fight the enemies. Like the stakes organically felt high. It FELT like the main character Gordon Freeman, WAS the guy that could change the outcome of the invasion.

The graphics were smooth and realized and crystal clear, no motion blur or texture blurriness and the graphics werent shrouded in some weird brown colouring filter. The graphics were mostly VIBRANT and colourful. They werent dim and brown. Everyone talks about the gravity gun in Half Life 2, that's fun and all, an important mechanic for the Half Life 2 universe. But its really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things in that game. Can't believe they never made Episode 3 or a half life 3 to finally end the invasion :(
