I think anyone who has seen a movie with Ellen Page and then played this game would notice the striking resemblance. Naughty Dog have been really cheeky with this one because they knew what they were doing, they basically got a famous hollywood actor to star in their game for free.
I think it's clear we are moving towards digital, and physical support will disappear slowly. From this perspective Gamestop doesn't need to exist any more than Amazon or Ebay does. I don't think more money ending up in the pockets of the publishers (or developers, even!) rather than resellers is a bad thing for consumers, quite the opposite.
Sony is playing catch-up, which reflects Japan as a whole losing their magic on the western world. There's a serious creativity issue going on there starting from cars, phones, tvs, and consoles too. Let's hope Sony manages to get back in touch with America cause at the moment Microsoft is the leading man.
