Not sure what reviews you've been reading since the majority of them gave an 8 or above. Only the review by Destructoid gave it a 5 out of 10. By the year's end, KI will most likely be hailed as one of the best titles of 2012. The only consistent issue across the board has been the controls. If you can get passed that, there is a very entertaining game here.
A Gundam game- I'm in a mood for a robot shooter/adventure game. Inazuma Eleven- I had to get a European import for the DS but since the 3DS is now region locked, I really hope they localize the 3DS game to America. Puyo Puyo- I love the Puyo Pop series and hope one makes it to the American shore. And...Dammit! I want the free download alarm clock app with Japanese models!
While both are great games, I would go with Resident Evil especially if you want a console experience on a handheld. The story is epic, the voice acting was overall good, and gameplay was deep and a blast to play. The online co-op gameplay is a lot of fun and the way it incorporates Streetpass/Spotpass into the gameplay is very inventive. The only flaw I can give is that it didn't have voice chat especially since multiplayer is co-op. I consider it the pinnacle of 3DS games so far. Kid Icarus is a great game also but I was let down with the AR aspect of the game. There is not much to do with the cards outside of viewing it with your camera and watch a predetermined fight. They should have incorporated a minigame utilizing the cards. As it is, it is just used more as a tech show. The controls are not as bad as it was made out to be. The ground controls are not as responsive but other than that, it just requires some getting used to. Both have multiplayer (although KI has both co-op and free for all). Both have a 3rd person shooter look to it. Both have great story although I think RE has a more immersive feel to it (both are epic storywise though). Both have deep weapon customization although KI's is deeper. It really depends if you are more into a horror survival mood or if you are more into a light hearted mood.
