@carbonFibreOpti I think we should wait to get our hands on the consoles and controllers before passing judgments. the clickable touchpad might be pretty useful in navigating the playstation OS and multitasking etc...who knows.

it seems like the whole debate of DDR3 + ESRAM vs GDDR5 can best be summed up by saying that Microsoft made design choices with operations other than gaming in mind while Sony chose to design the hardware from a purely gaming perspective. this is summed up well in this article:

@Alex_3D @gufberg the fact that Kinect is required to be connected to the console at all times is what is seen as a useless restriction. removing the kinect requirement will help alleviate a lot of the concerns but for some reason microsoft is not doing that. hence, one can only speculate what its purpose is.

@hotmerchandice the reason reviewers are not talking about the cloud services from either microsoft or sony because thats what it is...just a cloud in the sky and nothing tangible which can actually work as a real time secondary processor at this current point in time...last time the gimmick was motion control...this time its 'the cloud'...

@Jeremy012 right...but a point people often miss out is that PC games are designed to work with an infinite number of hardware configurations (e.g. some games work better on Nvidia while others on AMD). having just one configuration for a console allows better optimization so you will always see better results on a console for the equivalent hardware in a PC. so for similar amounts of money...the presence of consoles makes sense and they can deliver on par with the average gaming PC

@Jawad2007 @Dannystaples14 @outlawoftorn yes that is true. But what the problem (in my opinion) is that their vision is for gaming+TV+kinect while sony's vision is much more simpler....MS's vision of the xbox being an all-in-one living room device is what can cause it to make compromises in hardware performance..

@Jawad2007 it was the ESRAM that caused the heating issues in early 360 models right? some people are still skeptical about its presence and there are some articles saying they will have to underclock it and the GPU...

@bledsoe45sbc an optional SSD would be phenomenal...obviosly it would have driven the price up significantly if there from default...but lets hope its accommodated by the SATA controller...
