Well, I can't imagine anyone reading this, but then again, if everyone thought that then this whole blogging thing would never have taken off, right?
Here it is then, Overheat's first ever internet blog thingie. Is it wrong for me to refer to myself in the third person like that? It feels wrong, I don't want to do it again.
What prompted this? I'm not really sure, after being a Gamespot Complete member for quite some time, I've now made a couple of friends from chatting during a few live shows (great feature by the way) and I thought the hour had come. What's a Level 12 GS user without a blog? :P
Guess my first blog is mostly gibber-gabber about it being my first blog so far, so onwards. My first point I'd like to raise is for someone to sort out that Will Wright guy, or whatever his name is, the Maxis fella. That man owes me a lot of hours of my life back due to me squandering them in the world of various Sim games. First came Sim City when I was just a little boy and then Sim Tower stole a few more, together with Sim Ant and Sim City 2000.
Which brings me the latest and most popular craze, I would assume, by this creative mastermind, The Sims. Who would have thought a life simulator could be quite as addictive as this. I mean, life is something we can live everyday anyway isn't it? Why would we need a computer for this? Well, I got addicted to The Sims and it's many, many expansions a few years ago and I'm here again. Just got Sims 2 and all of its current expansions and "oh my god", the addiction bug has struck again.
There's a difference this time though, I've got my girlfriend staying over for Easter for the next few weeks, which is nice, BUT... she's not into computer games (shock, horror). Consequently, up until now, I've managed to persuade her to play the odd game for a few minutes and she's complied like any good girlfriend would, for my sake more than her own. But "aha!", I thought, "The Sims had to be the most popular girl game ever didn't it? I'll get her addicted to Sims 2 then!" It was a foolproof plan, and sure enough after a little convincing, she got on it and started to make a family, and I think she's hooked now :) Sorted!
You see, I'm one of them weird gamers that actually likes to watch games just as much as, if not more than, I like to play. Bizarre, I know. I think it's down to my indecisiveness, and let's face it, you've got to be good at decision making to play most games, especially the really immersive ones such as RPGs and it turns out unfortunately, although I'm no good at playing RPGs, they're probably one of my favourite genres - so I have to watch! Well, I don't have to, but I really enjoy it. The Oblivion Marathon on Gamespot was pure ecstacy for me, I really wish I could download it all, as watching from 2am until 2pm proved a difficult task for this little old blighty!
Well, I'm not sure how much rambling I'm meant to do in this blog thing, but as I opened with it, I'll close with it - no-one's gonna read this anyway ;)
On the passing chance you do read this, expect me to waffle on in future updates of my thrilling life :)
Overheat.
