Wing Commander, Starlancer, Freelancer are names that come across my mind as gorgeus games that completely made me love anything related to space combat coupled with excellent storytelling. There has been an incredible lack of these kind of games on these last years with the exception of maybe X, X2 and X3 saga which are gorgeus but quite lacking on the story department imo (and center on 4X genre rather than pure space fireworks galore).
So i'm all in for this one and even more knowing the Wing Commander creator is back, he is quite right on the PC being the powerhouse now for graphical eyecandy, just take a look at X3 or EVE and you'll easily see how great space can be portrayed with our current technology.
I just hope this will not be an MMO, i'm much more interested in a compelling story single player game with multiplayer elements, maybe co-op campaign play or something similar.
Can't wait to see some in-game footage, combined land and sea battles to perform massive beach landings will certainly rock if implemented well, i remember when playing the original Rome, if you landed your troops on a beach and fought a battle there you would see your Triremes standing by the shore on the distance, i always dreamed of actually battling during the disembark and looks that this game will make that dream come true.
With the excellent sea battles presented on Empire Total War i'm getting more and more impatient for 2013 to come.
I always missed the old brutal melee fighting presented on Rome and Medieval 2, Shogun 2 satisfied me a lot in this regard, the three are excellent, but i still feel nostalgic and go back to my original Rome save to see my cohorts charging into enemy lines, Rome 2 will be more than welcome on my Total War collection.
I can see here the same history as when XP SP2 was launched, i remember that XP really got into a stable OS when SP2 appeared. 7 is a recompilation of Vista kernel, imo they did all the testing they didn't do before Vista was released, and the result i can say from my own experience it pretty satisfactory, i can ALT+TAB between games and desktop in no time, OS loads even faster than XP and desktop is fluent, paired with a pretty intuitive user interface, add to those that memory consumption is quite fair (compared with Vista), i always have around 2GB+ free from the 3GB RAM i have installed.
