Reality check guys: the PSP is the second best selling console today. Or you could say the third, as the Wii and DS lite seem to alternate as #1. Yet, its sales are respectable; great even. 25 million sold, and no sign of stopping. Even in japan there seems to be a PSP craze (over its new red color i believe). Sure, the Ds lite is owning it in sales. Yet consider the fact that neither the 360 nor the PS3 will reach the PSP, and that it was sony's second fortray into a handheld market dominateed by Nintendo, and it managed, not only to survive, but excel. I personally own a Ds lite, and, seeing the awesome slew of games in 2008, can wait to chuck out a few hundred dollars for 6-7 games (although I only have 5 right now). The fact is, the PSP has amazing games as well: FF7: Crisis Core, God of War, and the already out FFT, J'eanne D'Arc, Daxter, Rachet, etc. Both are getting Kingdom Hearts games; both are getting Square support & an expanded librarary. Both have amazing sales and are turning a profit for both Nintendo and Sony repectively. The PSP isn't a failure; it is the product of a successful strategy to penetrate the handheld market, and it more than worked, it is a crazy success. So is the Ds lite, mind you; simply put, its a good time to be a handheld gamer.

Think about it: they (Nintendo) wouldn't release a new redesign until sales of the Ds lite slow a bit. Even if they have a redesign done, they will not release it for some time, late 2008 at the earliest

By no means am I a casual gamer. I just have less and less time to play games. Furthermore, I don't want to buy Mario Kart b/c I've played it to death on my friend's Ds. I am still unsure about FFXII: Reverent Wings, not to mention its price tag is a real turn-off. But, I want 5+ games next year (looking really good year for DS gaming!) and Advanced Wars 2, coming out in less than a month, is on the top of my list. So.......should I get the more-casual Brain Age 2 to hold me over? Is only $20, right? What do you guys think?

So today I got back my Ds Lite from Nintendo. I sent it in to be repaired, twice actually......all from my own stupidity and overzelous in cleaning the touch screen. Of course, I didn't tell Nintendo that. Nonetheless, when I got back my handheld today, I instantly realized that something was different: its L button wasn't worn from Metroid; its X button was still all nice and fine. It made a smooth sound when it opened or closed. When you go to the main screen, it was a new board around the opinions. I suddenly conclude that this isn't my Ds Lite I got a year ago before going to Egypt; no, I was a new one!! THey exchanged the entire thing! I probably won't care in a few days, and I feel nerdy just saying it, but I liked my old Ds Lite. I don't even have time to play video games that much, but hey, that Ds was special. O well......a consoles are the same, right? LOL, this is the stupidest thing I've posted yet.

Yes, I know: this is system wars. There is probably a idiot fanboy out there will will give me completely false info, and try to convince me that console x is worse that console y. Basically, all I need is this: is the PSP worth getting at this point? I love strategy games for handhelds, and the Ds has quite a bit to go before it gets those games. So I was going to buy a PSP.....good idea?
