@wexorian: "Battle Royale mod for ARMA 2/DayZ, developed by Brendan Greene, known by his online alias, "PlayerUnknown", and first released in 2013" so cool story.
@deathwish026: Not sure but several sources have credited him for creating the game mode and genre... here's an example: https://www.rollingstone.com/glixel/news/meet-playerunknown-creator-of-the-battle-royale-genre-w475728
@g4m1ngon: This is a pretty cool story, but 1.0 comes out tonight. Why don't you play it with a group of friends and come back here when you have a clue what you're talking about. It's one of the best games of the year.
@danku_chan: Arguably the creator of Battle Royale games is Brendan Greene who also created PUBG. That and it was the best selling game of the year (25+ million copies) and is by far the most played game on Steam pushing 3 million concurrent players. It's fair to call the genre PUBG-like, yea.
@hellguide: It's most defintely not overkill. Going to a 144Hz monitor and gaming 100fps+ is a huge difference from 60fps. It was somewhere around the 150fps mark I stopped noticing any difference when I took a game like OW that runs fast and upped the framerate a bit at a time to test (60, 90, 120, 144, 150, etc.).
@Marky360: You're wrong, just because it doesn't have a ton of graphical effects with shaders, lighting, etc. it's a heavy CPU dependent game because of the open world/100 player nature. Xbox One X has a very slow CPU. Here's a benchmark showing framerate based on CPU changes only: https://static.techspot.com/articles-info/1532/graphs/Medium.png
And for reference I play PUBG between 100-120fps which works well and feels very smooth with my 144Hz monitor.
