Well, I usually hate to start rumors and speculation, but this one is bugging me a bit. Right now, it seems like there's some internet buzz about ATI and Nvidia launching dual-GPU cards before releasing their next, big high-end card. My response to that is, WTF?

Having a dual-GPU card is like having SLI, right? And if that's true, than there's no way I'm getting one of these things! I hate SLI, as I really don't like the fact that buying a 2nd identicle card does not give me a 100% boost in performance. Especially now that the state of SLI is pretty sad. Weren't the last dual-GPU cards a total bust? There's no way I'm buying a card in which I can't take full advantage of. What do you guys think? Am I just overreacting to stupid internet rumors? There hasn't been a dual-GPU card released in a damn long time, so I have no idea why they would start now, unless it wasn't really possible before on the 90nm chips.

Like always, I think we'll just have to wait. Crysis is doing a whole bunch of stuff with DX10, and I think it's going to be the title that justifies DX10 and actually gives people a reason to upgrade to DX10.

Now I definitely agree that the cards we have now are simply not good enough for DX10. I got a 320mb GTS just a month ago and I've already gotten rid of it. It's simply not good enough, and I really think we should expect to have $300 cards that are going to kick Crysis' butt, just as past $300 cards have easily handled top games. I'm waiting for the next generation of cards cause the stuff that's out there right now doesn't cut it.

I've been looking a benchmarks and reviews and I have to say that I don't get the hype... It seems like people are more excited that ATi has finally got a card out that beats Nvidia more than anything. This is a long over-due card that's only slightly more powerful than the GTS, so I don't understand why people are so excited about it. Tweaktown makes this card sound like the 2nd coming for some reason.

I'm an independent, so all I care about is the big picture for me, the consumer. And I'm left looking at a card that came in a year too late and at a cheaper price. It's not a card that is going to let me play upcoming games any better despite coming in a whole year later than the 320mb GTS. As a consumer, I'm looking for a $300 card that's going to max out Crysis at 1680x1050 (the new 1280x1024) with an AVG FPS of about 45. Is this card going to give me that? No. Should I expect a card that gives me that? I think I should, and I'm definitely looking foward to the R670 or whatever Nvidia puts out in November. As for these cards? YAWN... Couldn't care less. Actually, with the R670 just around the corner, you could say that these cards are pretty damn near worthless.

OK, I'm not sure if all the Vista bad-talk is a bunch of internet drama or for real. But I can definitely say that I like Vista (running 64bit), and I think it's better. I like the fast search function; I like the interface; I like the new look in general. I don't get what's everyone complaining about, do you? I haven't had any crashes or bugs or any of that stuff. I don't have anybody that uses my PC, but the user system definitely has to be a HUGE plus for families. The only thing bad that I can really say about Vista is that the default Vista background is UGLY compared to the nice meadow background of XP. Not a big deal, but it hurts your image. :P There are a bunch of bad point about Vista (price, compatability, adoptability), but that just comes with the growing pains of a new OS. That doesn't mean Vista is crap does it? And I don't want to hear stuff about Linux being better cause, 1) I play games and 2) enjoy using only 1 OS. Face it guys, we're stuck with a M$ OS. :(

The only way I can see why a person would hate Vista is if they're running on dated hardware. My Vista64 runs fast, but I think that has to do with my having a good PC more than Vista. I also don't see how this OS actually helps games as M$ was saying. But in the end, I like Vista. Do you?

1) sixaxis. The whole concept is uncomfortable for the user, and I'm pissed off whenever I'm forced to use the stupid feature.

2) It's loud. I notice the fans when I play games, so it's distracting.

3) PSN is slow and isn't nearly as good as Live. I guess you get what you pay for,,,

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a card in that pricerange? I'm usually a high-end guy, so I have no idea what's out there at that price range (but I do know there's a whole lot of options). Will an 8400GS do? I'm just looking for something temporary cause I plan on getting something great around Christmas. Something that has super-value at $50. Thanks.

This generation's PC gaming pretty much does most console games anyway. You really get the best of both worlds by having a PC. Capcom looks like they're firmly into PC gaming now with Lost Planet and Devil May Cry, so we're going to get some Japanese games as well. Even MGS4 and RE5 have a decent chance of hitting PC.

Meh, PC Gaming won't die, but soon I'll turn over to console gaming, because worrying about how good it'll run and turning down the graphics so it lags less, and crashes, and things like that. I love PC gaming, it's just that which annoys me. With a console it's all set so you don't need to worry about hardware.Zaeryn

Yeah, I'm with you on that end. I'm definitely going to spend a lot on a high-end next gen card so I can just flat-out run games on high without constant tweaking and adjusting. I got a 20" widescreen and it seems like the cards haven't really caught up to this kind of resolution standard yet. I'm sick of adjusting this crap for every single game now. I know you can save yourself some time by just playing it on medium settings but who wants to do that?

And the other thing I HATE about PC gaming is that games have NO RESALE VALUE. I would love to be legit and get some used games for $20-$30, but that's not even an option. I really wish companies would stop going so overboard with security that destroys resale value. Instead, why don't you release games in neat packages (artwork or other goodies) to make the game actually worth buying from a store? Instead, you pay $40 for a game in a simple cardboard box with NO RESALE VALUE. I mean, you package it in the ugliest and cheapest way possible and I can't even sell it used? C'mon! I don't mod my consoles cause I enjoy owning official copies of stuff. But for PC? I'm not going to say that I pirate anything but lets just say owning a console game is not like owning a PC game.

O yeah, and PC gaming is still very much alive.
