Yeah, I was just expecting this card to be tops for real-world gaming performance, but not anymore. The main thing I wanted to get was something that was a good notch better than the console systems (360 & PS3), since I see those consoles as the next-generation graphical standard. I don't upgrade often, so upgrading is usually based on what kind of graphics the consoles are churning out. I see the 8800gts as slightly inferior to the 360, especially at the 1680x1050 resolutions I want to keep playing at. I'm definitely getting the 9800 sereis as that will be a card that will keep me happy for a good 4 years until PS4 comes out. I only got the 8800gts a month ago, so I probably should have waited. :P

Oh, so that's how it works. Thanks.
E6750@2.66 Ghz overclocked to 3.2 Ghz
4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM
PNY 8800gts 320mb
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA
Vista64
1680x1050 resolution
Well, for some reason, I totally crap out my videocard when I OC my cpu and just my cpu. I know it's overclocked because I do get better CPU results using Novabench. But when I run games and test my graphics card, it's total crap: unplayable framerates and lower benchmarks. WTF is going on here? I am so sure that the only adustment I'm making is to my 1) CPU FSB and 2) system memory multiplier to keep my RAM at 800 mhz. I have no idea how OCing my CPU could have drastic effects on my videocard. Any ideas? Some crazy voltage issue maybe?
In the end, to me it doesn't really matter the popularity of the consoles and such, even if playstation fully bombs out this generation and doesn't make any money it won't really matter, there will still be a playstation 4, so that doesn't really concern.
What concerns me is games, I have all three systems and both handhelds, and I can honestly say that I use my ps3 the most and I am anticipating way more games on it than any of the others. For instance, these games will just make me one of the happiest gamers,
- FF13
- FF Versus 13
- Star Ocean 4
- White Knight Story
- Little Big Planet
- Gran Turismo 5
- MGS 4
- MGS online
- Persona 4
- Disgaea 3
- Tekken
- Uncharted
- Folklore
- Ratchet and Clank
- Eye of Judgment
- Killzone 2
- Motorstorm 2
- Resistance 2
- God of War 3
- Eternal Sonata with extras
- Socom Confrontation
- Socom 4
- Wipeout ps3
Now those are just the exclusive titles coming out for ps3 that we know about as of this time and that list highly outweighs the exclusive games I'm anticipating on getting for any of my other consoles, so I mean idk what all the fuss is about but to me, even if the ps3 does do poorly, either way, I'm still gonna have all those awesome ass games and that's all that matters to me. Oh and I know technically Eternal Sonata is a multi, I just put it in there since it has the extra characters and stuff.

THink that says it all right there. Yeah, even I have to admit PS3 is going to have their butts handed to them this holiday season, but we're just going to have to wait. The only people that should be complaining really are those that actually put $600 (or more) on a system with no games on it yet. I got mine for $350. :)
I don't get the Home concept. I hate to compare consoles, but you have to admit XBOX Live is pretty cool. All of the games announced for it like Rez and Omega 5 look really good. PSN, on the other hand, is SLOW and doesn't have the games that Live has. So how is Home supposed to contribute to actual GAMES? Everyone is a bit ticked with the lack of emphasis on games, and Home doesn't look like it's worth the effort. I'd much rather they conecentrateon a fast, easy, reliable network rather then some 2nd Life nonsense.
