Van Helsing

Cool movie, bad plot. I need plot to sustain me, you understand... but still pretty cool for an action flick. I think the game was supposed to be pretty cool, almost like Devil May Cry dumbed down a little bit from what I've heard, but I'll have to wait for the price to go down a few more $ before I'll indulge.

Halo 2 got Jacked

I find it pretty funny that Halo 2 got pirated the other day. Bungie says they kept it under pretty tight lock and key... either that or you wanted to see how good your lawyers and internet tracers REALLY were. The fact that it was in French really doesn't make me feel like this was something that could have been prevented by any stricter surveillance. Probably just the French's way of flipping us off again.

Hello Dolly

I had to go watch this musical at the Amarillo Little Theater last night and was BORED OUT OF MY MIND! As I was yawning, my girlfriend hit me in the webbing of my mouth with her finger and that just pissed me off even more. I went home and basked in the mindless killing of Boondock Saints. Ah... I felt better. The next musical I would consider going to see would have to be entitled "Hello Boondock Saints" and anyone who sings gets shot in the face with a Desert Eagle. Yeah, that would be a winning play!

Boondock Saints and NHL 2K5 Sliders

I lent out this gem of a DVD about a year ago to a friend in hopes that I could introduce him to one of the greatest movies that has ever been made. After much procrastination and prodding, I finally got it back. I lent out my DVD player though, so I can't watch it until I get that back, so I'll just have to satisfy my need for entertainment with NHL 2K5.

Decided that destroying the computer on Pro was not gratifying for me anymore on default settings, so I upped the ante a little bit... jacked the goalies for the CPU all the way and left mine sitting in the middle. Seemed to be pretty good vs. the Panthers, but they have Luongo and he's the second best goalie in the game. I won 3-2 and all seemed well and good, like I might have a winning setting here, but then came the Sharks in the next game. Nabokov used to be pretty damn good - don't know where his skills started to deteriorate, but on the game he's pretty crappy. I won 5-0, so I guess I may just have to up the offensive skill of the CPU now too to make it fair. I would put it on All-Star, but that's just another headache I don't feel like enduring at the current juncture.

Wireless Necessity

I have a wireless router... if anyone would like to donate a wireless adapter to me, I would not heavily object. Contact me when you want to get it to me and I'll let you know where to send it.

Yet another NHL 2K5 entry

Yes, I play a LOT of this game. I beat some little kid (or some old guy with a little kid voice mask) today 3-2 and he griped endlessly about my goal on a penalty shot (THANK YOU DEKE!) and then my one-timer goal with five minutes left because he was going to get a loss. That's the name of the game, kid. You played to win and didn't. The game was a one goal win and could have gone either way - get over it! If you had won the game, I would have graciously accepted defeat, but when I won, I didn't gloat either, I tried to get you to look at some of the ways that you played well. Stop griping because your record is going to go down ONE LOSS. Learn from it, move on, realize that although the rest of the Avalanche is a stacked Behemoth of a team, Aebescher is a marginal goalie, at best, and choosing the Avalanche is not always going to get you the advantage you seek. That is all for today.

Playing unranked games of NHL 2K5

Shawn and I played NHL 2K5 online last night against other opponents and we found it fun to find games where the penalties were turned off... we went to town on them with the intense contact control stick! Breakaways were no more when we hooked the crap out of them, sending them to the ice or just sent them to the ice even if they didn't have the puck in their possession. This game is so much fun when you find all the different ways to spice it up a bit. I finally figured out why I wasn't scoring too and figured out how to score on breakaways more efficiently than using the 'S-Move' or 'Genesis Deke' as some people might call them. I could be one of the top ranked players on XBox Live in NHL 2K5, but I don't play online enough and don't care all that much about it either. I play to have fun and a winning record is not on my list of top priorities.

Do NOT buy Fable

I've been hearing about this HUGE game for years upon years that keeps your scars once you acquire them and builds on your reputation and this is true... to an extent. I found the gameplay to still be TOO LINEAR! Building your character wasn't customized enough. This wasn't an RPG... this was an ADVENTURE game! RPG's are games that I think about all day at work and then come home and play for hours on end only to rip myself away at an ungodly hour in order to get minimal sleep in order to repeat the same events. I don't spend $50 on adventure games... I rent them for $5 and I feel like this game was entirely misrepresented.

If you are looking for a pretty game that will occupy a short period of your weekend or maybe just two or three days, this is the perfect game for you. If I had known what I know now, I could have saved quite a bit of money. I'm not a happy camper right now... but I guess I fell for the hype. NEVER AGAIN!

Good Deal

Traded in four XBox games at Hastings that I wouldn't get jack for trade-in value elsewhere because of their special "Trade in four - get one free" deal. I got Fable. Played it for a few hours today. Pretty impressed.
