Cole?... as in The Cole Train?
by pill922 on Comments
So i bought Gears of War 2 yesterday and was expecting the same experience as its predecessor and in a sense
i was right up till the end of chapter one .......then it all changed. For one the scale is much larger than the original
were the mentality that the original had was "o here's one bad ass enemy, enjoy" but the know its more like "oh, you remember that one bad ass enemy ,well lets time that by three."
There is was also a major overhaul in the graphics department which truly shows every second of the game. There are still a few texture pop in's especially in multiplayer but its still one hell of a great looking game.
Bullet Points
Pro's(+)
-Great graphics.
-Bigger,badder and more bad ass has been accomplished.
-New weapons and grenades are a welcome addition to the already perfect arsenal.
-Horde mode is a must play.
-Multiplayer is better than ever, wing man and submission are going to be keeping me busy for months.
-New enemies and characters are a great addition to the stellar cast of characters.
Con's(-)
-The story still is not a justified reason to play the campaign (campaign is still good).
-Occasional pop ins should not be there.
-Lag during multiplayer.
-Poor match making (takes up to 5 minutes to get connected when not in a party.
Now from 2 o'clock till 4 oclock i had the most fun i've ever had on xbox live with members from the Giantbomb and Citizengame.co.uk community members. Special thanks to Dannyodwyer for setting up the tournament. Shout outs to GearHead,Tru3_Blu3,Dboy and a drunken Denis Walsh, I had a great time chatting with you guys(while chainsawing you to death). Hopefully we'll have more game nights in the future and more memorable games in the coming weeks. Later-Jason Krieger

Fallout 3 overview+ Left 4 dead t-shirt

I beat Fallout3 in 21 hours and was very unsatisfied with the ending yet it was a great game never the less.
What made me dislike the ending so much was how after one of the three ending cinematic you unlocked based on your karma, the game abruptly ends.
One part of Oblivion I really appreciate was that once the main quest was beaten you were given a reward and then you could complete all the other side quests/guilds you didn't get to. Luckily I saved before I entered the and left the to finish all the extra side quests.
I'm currently half way to reaching level 20 with my good character and finishing side quests, killing all the super mutant behemoths, locating all 100 locations and building all the weapons I can.
Combat
I felt that the combat was clunky and the guns were very inaccurate. Luckily the V.A.T system works very well and is not unbalanced like I had thought before picking the game up. You have a set number of action points and once you leave the V.A.T screen you have to wait for your action points to replenish. I felt most weapons I found were to heavily damaged and decided that I should have put some points into the repair skill.
Story
The main quest was actually good and I was looking forward to finding my father and find out what the deal is. There aren't nearly as many side quests as in other games and the side quests that are available are quite short and can be resolved within a few minutes. I did how ever really enjoy the unique NPC's and there personalities.
The Flaws
Graphically the games is the same **** brown and vomit green yet it truly goes with all the environments and the overall feel of the game. The character models on the other hand look like crap and you still don't feel like your talking to a real person. The game also froze about 10 times in my 25 hours of play which really made me mad. There are also the usual glitches that come with large open world games.
I really enjoyed the game and would recommend it to RPG fans instead of shooter fans. I give it a 9/10.
Yeah, Go Irish people!
Also good friend DannyoDwyer over at citizengame.co.uk sent me a Left4dead t-shirt, thanks man! This is a good time to ask the community to do me and the guys over at citizengame a favor.

Batman:The Dark Knight (the allegation free review!)

When entering the theater to see Batman the Dark Knight I wondered if the late Heath Ledger could play a better Joker than Jack Nicholson (Batman 1989). What Ledger brought to the table was an amazing performance that will make you ask the person next to you "he's acting right?"
The movie starts out 3 years after the prior film Batman Begins, and crime is worse than ever in Gotham city. Batman is still seen as a vigilante to some and a hero to others, while he's just trying to live one day at a time. The plot is a lot darker in DK were in Batman Begins it was "o this guy is bad, let's fight him and win". This time Batman is faced with an enemy which he does not understand which has motives he can't begin to wrap his mind around. Deception, murder, double-crossing, and mental illness are all themes that appear in the DK that really change the feel that Batman movies are not for kids any more.
The banks in which the mob's store there dirty money are being robbed one by one and Batman isn't helping by cracking down on there drugs deals. A mysterious man then approaches the mob with a proposition that he can kill the batman for half of all the mob money they have left. After a quick magic trick they see things the joker's way. The Joker is terrifying this time around with scars going a good seven inches from his lips that form a permanent smile. The joker gives many different answers to how he got the scars, which adds to the reality that he's so insane he can't remember how he got them.
What follows is a 2 ½ hours of Batman essentially discovering his "dark side" as certain events unfold. At one point Batman do the very deeds that he has fought so long to prevent. Christian Bale is perfect for the role of Batman, yet his performance is identical to Batman Begins. The action sequences are very fresh and enjoyable to watch.
All in all Batman the Dark Knight is a fantastic movie that even people who aren't into comics are sure to love, and DC fans boys will fall in love with Batman all over again.

microsoft's e3

E3 has come and gone in blink of the eye yet there were a few big announcements for Microsoft. Final Fantasy 13 coming to Xbox 360, the new Microsoft interface featuring avat.. Cough mii's cough, NetFlix which is huge for current users and Tons of new footage for all its killer apps. Personaly I was just happy to see game play for Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 and Resident Evil 5. After watching a few RE5 videos I was think this is just RE4 but in Africa but I was totally wrong. With the introduction of co-op it makes sense why in the early trailers Chris Redfield (protagonist) was fighting literally hordes of enemies with only a pistol, sense he'll be fighting along side a partner.
One game that made a big impression on people with its multiplayer announcement was Fable 2, which quite frankly I don't give two s%!^s about. They're implementing a new multiplayer feature were you can view you friends playing fable 2 as small balls that move around the world…..are you kidding me. Do the developers really think while I'm trying to enjoy the graphics and the scenery I want colored balls flying around? O and if they show that dog one more time I'm going to throw lassie a ball right over a cliff.
My favorite game from the show has to be Fallout 3 sense it really showed the first in game footage and had a phenomenal trailer also shown. I felt the V.A.T system was an automatic kill, yet if you're stats aren't aligned perfectly it some times fails. I was also a little disappointed to hear that there would only be a few hundred unique personalities instead of the roughly thousand ones that were in Oblivion. Never the less Rpg/3rd/fps/set in a post-apocalyptic version of Washington D.C, what more could you want?
Gears of War 2 looks great, graphically it looks similar with a few exceptions like bullet streams and just crisper details on buildings and characters. Hordes of enemies on screen looks to be a challenge and the announcement of Horde mode sounds….interesting. I think it'll be more of a novelty then a mode people will play once or twice then turn back to the new 5vs5 multiplayer.
Well that was pretty much Microsoft's E3 , short but sweet for many fans. I watched the other two conferences for Journalist reasons, and I have to say they were pretty boring. Nintendo had a few motion censored games like resort games and wii Music. Sony showed mostly footage fro games that we've now about for months. I really expected more from the other companies. The B^#ch slap of the event had to be FF13 coming to the Xbox 360, which Sony will be hurting from. MS keeps giving us reason not to buy a PS3 for one reason
1) Exclusive Downloadable content !
On another note if any one needs a reviewer for a website they run/operate i'd be happy to help.

E3 blow out,plus i'm back

E3 has just started and the line up of games they've shown us has been great. Gears of war 2, resident evil 5 and fallout 3 have shown brand new live game play which makes gamers and my self giddy with joy. The news of RE5 co-op play will bring people together, the hordes of locust will be a challenge and Washington D.C will chill you to you're core.
I was very impressed with the new prince of Persia Trailer which hints at partner specific combo attacks, which is fresh for the series. I also liked how the trailer fades in at the start from art to the trailer and fades out from game play to art.
On a personal note I recently arrived home from my 2 week trip from England and Scotland. I think we had the best weather ever there, it was sunny every day and rained on the last day I was there. I really enjoyed staying in the heart of London and seeing the sites ( Big Ben, the London eye, Parliament). I dint really enjoy the food all that much but I still had a good time and would love to visit the countries again.

So in the last three days I beat Gow on insane, which surprised me. Usually if there are four difficulty settings on a game I play the third and have never beaten a game on "ultra" hard. I unlocked 150pts; I'm so close to 10k I can almost taste it.
I also have started watching Doctor Who when ever it's on; I love the whacky characters and the overall cheesiness of the show.
