@marcheegsr This. While I don't expect to actually resist it, it seems silly to be thinking about buying a game that will have this kind of scope for a current gen system a month before new consoles come out.
That they haven't announced a PC release, or a next gen release with the ability to transfer your progress like COD/Battlefield...it's just weird.
I'd happily buy it twice, it's not the money, but frankly I don't want to invest TIME into any more current gen console games.
@SgTFuzzy-18 Valve is too incompetent to meet their own standards for Half Life 3. You can disagree, but if you don't understand such a simple statement I don't think that makes me the idiot here.
They're COMPETENT at releasing great games that are GREAT but aren't on the absolute leading edge of tech. They won't do that with HL3, so franchise fans get nothing instead. Paralyzing the franchise is incompetence.
Competence could get the game out the door in 7 years.
As much as I dislike franchises that release the same thing year after year without any real development, I also dislike Valve for giving fans NOTHING just because they can't meet their own pipe-dream standards for their flagship franchise.
Slow Development + Cutting Edge Standards = Never Going To Be Good Enough To See The Light Of Day
A developer that 'can't release their crap' might be just as incompetent as a developer that 'releases crap', if ya know what I mean.
@PyschoPS4truthh This is probably true: perfectionist elitists with no motivation that are paralyzed by their own expectations so they produce nothing.
My guess is they won't release a Half-Life that they don't feel legitimately pushes the boundaries, and by the time they get anything close to where they want it, its outdated. They want to be cutting edge, but they're too slow to be cutting edge, so they just give us nothing.
And they don't have to deliver anything, because their signature franchise is a time sucking sink hole more than a revenue stream they need.
@broly1800 I wonder if there's someplace where intelligent people discuss video games? These forums just make me feel like I should be ashamed of my hobby.
@bledsoe45sbc @DARKSPACE That's me. But my question was "who is the moron that thinks $100 matters in terms of a 5+ year investment when a couple games will cost more than that?"
@Deeg_1Microsoft got carried away by their own shocked reversal momentum. They really don't know where to stop. There were morons at the helm when they set their original policies, and now there are morons deciding the new policies. Talk about being a leaf in the wind.
And this comment is coming from somebody who is leaning towards the X1...if they can figure where to stop. That "xbox One, you know, the first one" joke was pretty on point.
Not sure I buy it that Sony is leading by that much in the pre-orders. We'll have to wait and see. But even as a "hardcore" gamer, I was strongly leaning toward the X1 because the two consoles are basically the same thing and I think the Kinect is a cool piece of tech that has a place.
One thing is certain though, Kinect will fail if it isn't bundled and devs can't assume every X1 has a Kinect2. It will become the same unsupported niche POS the Kinect1 was. I know I'm the odd one on this, but if MS backtracks on bundling the Kinect then there's no reason to buy an X1 and I'd buy a PS4. It wouldn't be the first time a vocal minority killed a piece of promising tech.
