Mafia II has the best story I have ever seen in a video game. I haven't played the MGS series as I have been scared away by the cutscenes.

Somewhere outside the US would be a nice change, I would love Paris or London, I would say Sydney but they have enough trouble trying to sell GTA's in Australia.

Mafia 2

I remember when i saw IGNs rating. a 7. My jaw dropped to the floor. M2 is one of the best games of all time IMO.

For me it was an achievement in story telling. It was an authentic mafia story. It wasnt over the top, it wasnt a bunch of random rambo missions that had you murdering thousands of enemies across the city. You wouldnt see that in a movie, or a in real life

The missions design was authentic. It really felt like you were living in this guys shoes & doing what he would be doing. Give Mafia to any other developer & they would have had each mission conisting of a endlesss .killing, rampage.

Everything from attempting a job, selling cigarettes, going through prison, shooting up a diner, etc. Wow unbelievably authentic. The shooting missions that were there were beautiful too but boy did this game feel like an authentic masterpiece. An achievement in game design

Mafia 2 is a masterpiece, just everyone expected Grand Theft Auto, I give Mafia 2 a 9.5/10

[QUOTE="ps3gameplayer"]I'm not referring to Galaxy (and yes, i haven't played them), i'm mainly referring to New Super Mario Bros, the most overrated recycled, copy and paste piece of garbage i have ever played and why that gets critical acclaimed, other games have to pick up the garbage and get bashed for New Super Mario Bros problems.foxhound_fox
In terms of level design and difficulty, the Wii version is the best 2D Mario in the series. The wall jumping and mini-Mario add a whole new dimension to the platforming. Sure, it doesn't have any sort of art design, but it runs smooth and has killer level design. Many would argue that level design is one of the more important aspects of a platformer. Along with controls. You seem to have a bee in your bonnet and are lashing out at quality games for no reason.

I personally think that the level design is bland and boring and I know for a fact that it is recycled. Also you spoke about wall jumping like it is that thing of the future, so did the gamespot reviewer, but wall jump in other games is ignored.

surely someone else agrees that this kind of threads are dumb?

Krelian-co
You probably wouldn't have said the game if the thread was called 'Surely someone agree's that Call of Duty is Overrated?'

Someone hasn't played the Galaxy games... quite obviously. I am getting sick and tired of people calling things "overrated" and even more sick of people talking about games they've never played as if they understand why people like/don't like them.foxhound_fox

It really depends on the game that you're talking about. Spinoffs Mario titles can be pretty lacking and boring, I suppose. Likewise, one can say the same about some rehashes or sequels. So, in that sense, Mario can be overrated at times. Every franchise, I should say, falls into this range. As I pointed out in another thread, review scores really aren't that relevant; it's how you feel about a game's quality, and if it is enough to satisfy you or not. That's what really counts, not some arbitrary numbers game that's often played between "professional" critics.Mawy_Golomb
'New' Super Mario Bros is the most overrated if you ask me, it was nearly exactly the same as previous games can it scored 9.0-9.5 yet other games (Tomb Raider Underworld in particular) get bashed for being similar to previous games even if they have a different story and levels.

[QUOTE="ps3gameplayer"]

although I never played any RPG ones.

Aero5555

If you're into RPGs, you should. They're fun and their stories are suprisingly simple yet interesting.

s might give one a try some time then, just ell me the story is nothing like the story of new super mario bros
