i agree with the posters on here who see that this move by EA is motivated purely by the state of the economy.
I dont think EA wanted to make a Wii version of Deadspace, but they simply HAD to because theyve been bleeding cash on these huge projects on the other systems.
If the economy was better, EA would have probably put out some more kid-friendly games on Wii. But even those cost more than converting an existing game for the system. And since they HAD to do this, they thought "what can we port that people have bought en masse on Wii before?" and the answer was "survival horror". so theyre going ahead with dead space on Wii.
i hope it sells well, because it will help signal a paradigm shift in what publishers believe will sell on the system.
to those saying the graphics will be dumbed down, you know what? you're right, to an extent. but youve got to remember, in survival horror, audio is just as important as visuals in creating the atmosphere of fear. plus, EA announced this game at a perfect time, when WiiMotion Plus is getting ready to hit shelves later in the spring. deadspace developers will maximize on these advantages, if they are smart. the textures might be blurrier, and some of the lighting might not be as high-res, and there might not be as many enemies on-screen, but this game can still be stellar on Wii.
its just gonna take some savvy.
