There is one driving factor about the Wii that is making me skeptical about it.. Well actually 2 driving factors.. A. My TV is 55 inch 1080p DLP tv and I know the wii only does 480p so i think it will look really bad on my tv and B.Does it or will it have online multiplayer. Ive thought about buying one but then thought that $250.00 is a lot of money for a console that has no online multiplayer. I mean after playing online with such games as Gears and Halo there is no going back to single player. So my question is, for those of you that own a Wii, do you like it or do you regret your purchase?BrutonNYC
The Wii has awesome online capabilities, such as the Wii Shop Channel and the Virtual Console, as well as the Opera browser, which I feel is superior to the PS3's in accesibility and simplicity of use. AND YOU'RE WRONG WHEN YOU SAY THE Wii HAS NO ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, BECAUSE IT WILL IN ABOUT A MONTH. But If you have a PS3 and a 360 already, dont buy a Wii for the online play. Because, frankly, you will be dissapointed. Wii online will be alot more tedious to use than something like Xbox Live, simply because its a free service and because Nintendo has its methods of protecting children at the cost of a good online playing experience.
That being said, if you plan on having a party at your house, the PS3 and Xbox 360 simply will not compare. The Wii is the ultimate party machine, its that simple. A whole bunch of guys are constantly playing Wii at the Student Union here on my college campus on weekdays. Its just a fun, immersive experience that you cannot get with the other two systems.
As for the concern with the TV. It really isnt that big of a deal. Although Bozon from IGN has stated that Wii's 480p will look much better on a plasma screen than on an LCD. So, take that for whatever its worth. DLP, i dont know. But I can guarantee you that any Wii game will look a ton better on your screen than if you decide to put a PS2 game into your PS3. That is a FACT.
As far as price is concerned, I cant see why you're so worried about paying 250 dollars when, apparently you were more than ready to put down a nice 600 for a PS3. The Wii is a solid investment.
