@Cordliss i agree. the article said the studio could have made a game that was not CoD, but they still wanted to make CoD. Yeah...because theres essentially zero risk involved with a CoD game, it will be a success.

But I would like to see what the studio is actually capable of and see them create a brand new IP, and outside of the FPS realm. Oh well.

well if Ubi and Microsoft are serious in there predictions, then let's all hope these new systems sell at substantially lower price than the last generations launch prices. thats the only way what they are predicting will come true.

i'd buy PS4 in a heartbeat for $300.

I'd have to think twice and wait for a drop if it launched upwards of $400.

meh. PS4 controller looks like an improvement over PS3, but this...looks more like an Ouya controller than 360. It looks awkward...the general shape. Very flat on front. Very boxy in the center...well not boxy but square in shape. Look at 360 controller...sexier with a thinner middle area where the buttons are, handles compared to the middle area look larger on 360. The middle area looks bigger on X1. Looks too angular at the bottom. I prefer 360 controller.

Also if theres no need for AA batteries whats with the sliding panel on the back of the X1?

Without the Xbox home button in the center that space feels too large and empty. Something about this controller reminds me of Genesis controllers, or older controllers in general. And while i'm at it the X1 console itself looks like a VCR from 1988. Did the creators at Microsoft have a sudden overwhelming nostalgia trip???

@Midnightshade29 @c_teb @punkdsk8erdude @smackdowner360 Midnightshade, yeah it didn't make a whole ton of sense to me either about the cloud thing. Though I thought about what OnLive was trying to do and the fact that they were streaming games from high end PCs to your tv, well I suppose Microsofts servers could eventually do that if necessary?

But so could Gaikai although they don't have nearly the infrastructure that Microsoft has for servers.

Either way we saw with onLive that streaming full games is still a ways off, connections aren't fast enough. It isn't reliable. Plus from what I gathered about those Microsoft servers is that they are for XBL service, not particularly streaming games...

@c_teb @punkdsk8erdude @smackdowner360 Interesting, I didn't really get that from the reveal...

That being said if it's true than that is indeed a big plus.

And apologies if you thought my clarifying the question was pretentious...but in every comments section i've been reading on any site about PS4 vs Xbox1 things have been...tense. People are quick to be offended and jump to conclusions.

@smackdowner360 how do you figure X1 is ahead? This is a legitimate question not rampant fanboy angst. I just wanted to clarify that lol.

PS4 is more powerful in terms of specs alone. Also considering that PS4 will have more of their tech inside dedicated to what gamers care about - playing games!

X1 has to dedicate part of their machine to always running Kinect 2.0, as well as the combined Windows and Xbox OS, multitasking, etc.

Sounds like that might take up a chunk of the system's function that could've been used for performance in gaming.

everyone is in such uproar about this and i'm right there with you.

I'm getting a Wii U by the end of this year as my first next gen console because X1 is not worth a dime in my book with these policies and lack of focus on GAMING.

PS4 will find it's way to my home eventually as well, IF AND ONLY IF Sony does the smart thing and leave Microsoft on their own in this decision...I have a feeling that MANY gamers that would've bought an X1 (like me) will go PS4 this gen due to this issue alone...

Let's see what E3 brings.

Thank you Tom!!

Words of truth.

As a loving X360 owner this gen, I have to say I was baffled by the lack of GAMING INFO at the Xbox One event. I understand the pros to having an all-in-one media center but this console is supposed to be first and foremost a gaming system, this reveal seriously was lackluster, I didn't need an hour presentation on how Xbox One will let me watch cable TV....

I am really leaning towards the PS4 for next gen due to its apparently more direct focus on games, the (hopefully still) free PSN, and the lack of such policies as the one this article is about. Tonight I am playing Dark Souls for the first time because I borrowed the disc from a friend - I wouldn't have bothered had I have to pay a fee! And as a gamer who grew up in the 90s and 00s when Blockbuster was still around I rented games ALL THE TIME to try them out, lent games to friends, or a friend would bring over their copy of a game to play that I didnt own, etc.

That being said I do believe that Microsoft mentioned that your XBL account can be signed into from any Xbox One console, with your personal homepage, info, save states, etc, all in the cloud.

If this is the case then you can (hopefully) still play your copy of a game on say a friends console by signing into your account...but thats about it. Renting, used games sales, and even just borrowing from a friend is out the door.

We will really have to wait and see what E3 holds for games and for more concrete information regarding both Microsoft and Sony's pricing plans, for the system itself as well as online stuff.

@Nickprovs i have been under the impression everything we have seen of GTAV has been in-game footage thus far. It is highly plausible that if this is in fact true, than the differences we see in those screens (great comparison, btw) is perhaps the game running on next gen vs current gen consoles? the better image looks possible on high end PCs and future consoles, but the worse one definitely looks current gen.
