I keep thinking about upgrading, but haven't pulled the trigger. Below is what I'm looking at upgrading to. My budget is under $400. I game and edit photo and video, although this is mostly for gaming as the editing is fine on the current specs. In fact, I may be able to do without the memory upgrade. I'm not sure. I'll also post what I'm currently running. If you have any suggestions that would be better buys please let me know.

Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)

I get that my current CPU is old and that I can't OC due to the mobo. That's why I said, "considered OCing (never done it before) but am restricted by the Gateway motherboard it came with. Not to mention the 530 is quite old". That's why I want to replace both. What i5 did you have in mind? I've heard the 2500K is good, but $200+ for the CPU alone might be out of my comfort zone.

I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU and motherboard as I'm ok with what I currently have for the rest, and honestly, don't have the funds to build an all new rig. So, I'm wondering what is the best bang for buck grouping I can get? I prefer Intel. Currently have a i3 530 and considered OCing (never done it before) but am restricted by the Gateway motherboard it came with. Not to mention the 530 is quite old by todays standards. I'm not sure of a budget yet, so that's why I'm asking for the best for the money spent.

Really? A country like North Korea talking about Propaganda? Yes, some parts of "western civilization" are ridiculous, but I would much rather live in the US instead of North Korea where people live in a dictatorship and have to refer to the leader of the country as The Eternal President.

Man, I never realized how many good series there are on Netflix. My suggestions (which may have already been said) in no particular order. The Walking Dead Hell on Wheels Burn Notice Sherlock Family Guy Cleveland Show American Dad Lost Firefly Mad Men Avatar: The Last Air Bender Archer Ugly Americans Top Gear (UK version) Chappelle's Shows Drawn Together Being Human (US version)

Alright, so I guess lets narrow this down some. Basic computing and multimedia usage. Would prefer ultrabook, but not sure on budget yet except for stating under $1000. I have yet to play with Windows 8 so I'm not sure if I'm going to like it, which leads me to the issue of paying for touchscreen if I may end up not using it. Hope that helps some. It would also help if there are some brands to completely steer clear of.

So are that laptops not like TVs where certain manufacturers make better products than the competition at a given time? That's all I'm looking for at this point. From there I can determine what I want as far as functionality, features, etc.

Are there any specific brands to look at for laptops? Do the brands that make good quality laptops also make good ultrabooks or is there some disparity? Same question goes with Windows 8 compatibility. Do some brands work better with Windows 8 than others? Thanks for any help.

Taking pictures of electronics how? Macro (closeup) photography? Or of the entire piece of electronic equipment? Why does it have to be a DSLR? Why can't you use a zoom lens as long as you have the range you need? My point is, it sounds like you can get what you are looking for with a tripod and camera far less than a DSLR, since most of the cameras you look at have "features I am never EVER going to use".

From my personal experience, yes, I do have regrets relating to sports. I didn't get to play as much as a younger kid and once I got to a point where I could play at school (junior high and high school) I didn't take full advantage of it. I played football my freshman year and didn't really apply myself. I liked playing pickup football, but didn't like playing for a team because I had to do things I didn't want to. I did really enjoy the off-season which got me lifting weights and exercising much more. The next year I started tennis and played for the rest of high school. It was fun playing and getting to hang out with friends and meet girls at the tournaments. If you're questioning it now, it may be something that bothers you in the future.
