ive owned a ps3 since launch and wasnt looking to buy a second one till a price drop. i walked into my local fye store today and they have the 80 gig at 299 and the 160 at 399. i asked the lady at the counter if it was just a sale and she said no that the price drop was permanent. anyone else heard of a permanent price drop? needless to say i bought one of two 80 gigs they had left. they sold all of the 160's they had before the drop.

[QUOTE="railroberto2007"]You guys are completely missing the point. Its not that the Wii cant handle online. Its just that the Big N doesnt care about the online. They have always had their own idea of what they want gaming to be. no matter what their customers want they stick by what they think we should have.JordanElek

And most of the time, what Nintendo thinks we should have is actually what we want. The only real way to know what customers want is by looking at what they buy. Nintendo fans buy whatever Nintendo hands them, and now with the Wii, a lot of people who thought that anything with a controller was "a Nintendo" are buying their stuff, too. Apparently Nintendo gives people what they want. Not everything, of course, but that's impossible.

As far as online specifically, Nintendo's goal is to get every Wii connected to the internet. This is especially evident in Japan, where they have a special service to help anyone set up the Wii, and they also brag about their online numbers whenever possible. In all honesty, I think this is because if more consoles are online, there will be more purchases from the Shop Channel. But I think Mario Kart Wii also proved to them first-hand that good online functionality in games can boost sales.

Maybe Nintendo didn't care about online before, but they do now.

And maybe you should have quoted my full post.

[QUOTE="navstar29"][QUOTE="Stringerboy"]

Why Microsoft cant just intergrate a web browser is beyond me.

Pretty much this. Rather than make a web browser they integrate certain websites into their online, quite possibly to "justify" that Live price. Maybe its just me, but I can stream 1080p video's with my internet connection from the PSN and I have access to YouTube, Hulu, Twitter etc through the Web Browser. And if I'm not mistaken only UK is getting the TV streaming, which I believe the PSN in the UK or Europe already has or some sort of PVR thing in the UK.

The only new feature from live thats worthy to discuss is being able to download games. But then again. The game is only 9Gb in size which really benifits MS. Where as with the BluRay, most of the dev's at least first party ones, are known to fill it with as much stuff as they can, usually uncompressed audio or duplicate files for faster reading. So downloading 25GB/50GB would suck, especially when you have a bandwidth limit.

And even now I still think the Live price is totally not worth it. The only new feature Live needs is a price cut, to zero. Then IT WILL be the best!

i couldnt agree more, nothing but a bunch of fanboys saying ms killed it. pathetic really. the only good games i saw are multiplat

I agree, MS simply just has the most games, from Crackdown to L4D to Splintercell to Forza to Mass Effect 2 to Halo Reach to Halo 3ODST to Alan Wake to Natal, all of which are MS exclusive.

awsss
and all of which i care nothing about

They have always had their own idea of what they want gaming to be. no matter what their customers want they stick by what they think we should have. they have always been this way. from putting a backlight on the gameboy to saying no to cd based games to saying no to harddrive to friend codes. i always stick by them to play the next mario zelda and metriod. i have gotten to the point of saying to hell with nintendo.
