@NEWJERSEY-DEVIL

I really wanted to play GT5 when it came out. I was a bit jealous.

Then I realized that there's about 40 games in my Steam account that I got on sale for $5 or less that I still haven't played AT ALL yet, so I'm playing great games like Tomb Raider at 2560x1440 resolution while console gamers are getting screwed by GTA Online bugs. I'm not so jealous anymore. And by that I mean that I'm not jealous at all, I actually feel sorry for you guys.

I haven't paid over $20 for a game since... well, since the last console game I bought.

I have a ton of these cables lying around, so I don't need one anyway.

As far as the analog buttons go, I was excited with the prospect when the analog buttons first came about, but they never seemed to make much impact even in games that actually supported them. Besides, they're buttons, so digital makes sense. Analog is great, but I won't mourn its loss on the face buttons.

Cliff has blown his share of hot air, but this time I absolutely agree with him. There are a few reasons why I'm excited for the new generation of consoles, but overall, I'm far more excited about Steam Machines and Oculus Rift and anything that has the potential to really push gaming towards the edge of the box.

That's fine, but you realize that your argument is a logical fallacy, right? I mean, what the guy is currently doing has absolutely no bearing on whether his statements are valid or not.

They also said the previous consoles would last 10 years. Maybe they will, but their successors will be out before that 10 years is up.

I imagine the next ones will be out after 5 or 6 years. This cycle will be shorter than the last, because they obviously aren't aiming as high as they were last time.

The problem with these ideas is that the bandwidth isn't there. Not enough people have high speed internet to stream all of their gaming content. And if they did, their ISPs would freak out at the usage.

In five years, bandwidth will probably be at least twice as fast as it is right now... and 4k will be out, quadrupling the amount of data that needs to be streamed, which means hardware will still exist.

Besides, moving the hardware to the other side of the internet connection does not alleviate the need for the processing hardware in the first place. Perhaps we'll see more distributed computing solutions make their way into the market, but full-on streaming of everything? I doubt it.

Again, this is not a gaming device. The reason it's so expensive is because it's a niche product. The gaming mode is just an added bonus for anyone that's already buying one of these for movie viewing.

More important than anything else (other than the price) is the fact that this provides you with a movie-like display. This doesn't offer you the same field of vision that Rift offers you. It's just a giant, personal, 3D display.

Nice to see that they're continuing to improve the device, but I'm really hoping that they'll start showing a PS4-specific Rift competitor soon, because this ain't it.

Haven't you heard? According to Nvidia, everything requires a 780 or Titan to run these days. Just another reason why I loathe Nvidia's marketing tactics.

Meh. Just one more reason not to play it. Don't need that junk clogging up my hard drive.

@Karrez

You're contradicting yourself. Which just highlights the absurdity of touting foliage physics as next-gen technology.
