It should have single and multiplayer options. It should be set in WW2, Vietnam, and the future. Gratuitous violence for sure. Throw in a female sidekick who dies for a solid emotional punch. Lots of quicktime events. Also, no matter what genre it is definitely add in experience, levels, and skill trees.

One review is 3 points lower than the user average and another is over 4 points below the user average. Without even reading them I can tell you that when you go against the masses that much you are going to get burned. This is the problem with systems in which everyone gets a vote; outliers, no matter how good their points are, will be alienated.

Perhaps a specific example of what you consider "bad" would be helpful.

If your looking just looking for a good game ending, I can not recommend any game more than Planescape Torment.

The stat scaling was so broken in that game that the difficulty of the first 20 minutes would turn off the vast majority of modern gamers. It isn't fun to miss an ant 8 times in a row.

Just like "achievements", these collectibles are a simple way for the developer to add multiple hours to a game with practically no work on their part. And the reason why you see these things more and more? The customers beg for it.

I loved MW1 and hated MW2. The problem I had with it is they went overboard. Every two seconds was some nuclear bomb or fighting off a wave of 300 guys at once. It made it boring, not tense, and completely uninspired.
