Wait!! I'll write it big so people can see! White Engine was made and used for FF XII NOT FF XIII...though a much improved version is used it's not the multiplatform dream you think...in fact its VERY hard to make games using the engine and recently SE was confirmed to be using the Unreal 3 engine in an upcoming game (check me if you want)NextGenNow
Square Enix will use the unreal engine for some other games except FFXIII, they mentioned that FFXIII had been in development for quite some time so too late for it to use the unreal engine. Also they're experimenting the White Engine on FFXII previously, and subsequently use the experience on FFXIII, so yes, the FFXIII is using the White Engine.

If the PS3 is your only game console, then you should seriously check out the large library of PS2 games which can be played on it while waiting for even more good games to come out on the PS3 :)

Dell's 24" FPW LCD monitor is a good option. If you have the budget can check out their latest 27" model as well.

"MS's quote is always SHIPPED, not sell through." I remembered when they first said they're trying to hit 10 million by end of 2006, that figure is actually referring to shipped units. With so many games sites qouting it out of context and putting it as sell through figures, I can see where the confusion comes in. As of now, MS only almost hit 10 million sell through units, and they probably have shipped 13 million or so. Check out vgcharts on how they compile the figures and compare that to nexgenwar and you'll realize which is the more accurate one. You can also go into the vgchart forum to see how the posters discuss on the figures, they're very informative as they give new gamers who have absolutely no idea how the figures came about more insights on the various factors involved.

And I paid more than US$3000 for my Bravia 46" LCD TV in Nov last year.

This is VERY generous of Sony UK :)

can you backup games for the playstation 3 just like you can on the 360 and will it need modding?

stewpot0782
Your "backup" is referring to illegal backups? Not possible. For purchased online downloads even if you reformat a HDD or change HDD etc, you can still re-download ALL your purchased games again from the Playstation Network without any problem, so no "backups" needed. For BD contents (games and movies), the disc surface is about 50x to 100x more scratch resistance compared to DVD and HD DVD, so the discs can last much longer, hence also no issue there.

Yeah. LCD wont beat out plasma. They are getting good at it. The Sony XBR series in particular. But the newer 1080p Plasmas from Pioneer & Hitachi will smoke LCD for picture quality.

I do really like LCD's lightweight & good energy cunsumption... plus quiter operation (in general) Ohh and a biggie for LCD is the anti-glare surface. Definitly the best chouce for those that have windows in the room they cannot cover.

Pioneer had a new 1080p plasma that has a 1920x1080 resolution (should be available for sale later this year), pretty interesting as seems like they're now able to squeeze that amount of pixels in a 50" plasma screen.

I'd argue that Plasma is better for gaming because it has better black levels, better contrast, and much better motion (refreshrate) And by no means will gaming hurt a modern day plasma. Just dont leave the system paused for the whole day (w/ the TV on)

BroweChisox

Yes, Plasma screens had all of the advantages you mentioned. Major negatives include burn-in, heavier and bulkier than LCD, higher power consumption and more heat generated etc. As of now, though, there are already a few high-end LCD models (Sharp, Samsung and Bravia from Sony etc) that rival the deep blacks and high contrast of the Plasma. Within 2 years, the Plasma will slowly fade away and be replaced by LCD and other display technologies.

You obviously did not attend or read much about CES 2007

More to the point pls? It would be good for discussion if you would at least indicate whatever that you're trying to bring across?
