What? To #1: The PS3 uses 256MB of XDR ram that is FOUR times faster than the RAM in the X360. The second unit of RAM is equivelant to the X360. So I guess, the X360 is also running on old hardware?http://computer.howstuffworks.com/ram.htm
All cows should read this, maybe you guys will understand why RAM is so important.
bottleneck #1 for the Ps3: I it uses the same amount of RAM a 3 year old computer has.
bottleneck #2 for the Ps3: Blue ray may seem pretty cool, but the tranfer rate is so slow, developers hate working with it.

Ugh, the chainsaw people sucked. Other REs could scare the hell out of you, especially when Nemesis would drop through a window.
Doom 3 was pretty scary during some parts. Most notably when some enemy would spawn out of nowhere, and all around you it turns red with pentograms on the wall. Or the flying dead babies.
My friend tells me that FEAR is a mental torment, and he does not scare easily.
The BenQ 241W 24.1" WS LCD monitor with HDMI, HDCP, and 1080p resolution. It costs $799 right now on Newegg.com, and the prices will drop soon. Kill two birds with one stone, really: If you have an old SDTV and a decent size (17" or so) PC monitor and you want to have something great for gaming and movies that is cost effective, then this is it. I am definitely getting this system soon.

[QUOTE="reilo"]I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer to just yet, but I think I know what the problem is.
I bought a HDMI -> DVI cable for my PS3, and I bought it with the intention of hooking up my PS3 to my Samsung 730b LCD 17" monitor when I want to play my PS3 upstairs when the downstairs 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV is in use. Here is what I think the problem is: HDCP is blocking out the signal and not allowing my monitor to display an image. Or so I think.
The monitor DOES receive the signal from the PS3, but it is just a backlit blank screen. On the info panel for the monitor, it clearly states the screen resolution as 720x480 at 60Hz (DVD res), but I still do not get a picture. I HDCP the problem? Is it the monitor? Does anyone know?

I couldn't find anything about 730b HDCP support, on samsung's tech support(normaly, no saying is no support). and 730b's DVI is DVI-TMDS link.
I think its almost HDCP problem.(plz call to samsung tech support and ask them about HDCP support)
Simply test with your PS2 games those don't have HDCP lock...then you'll see what the problem is.
I can't even get the XMB to show up. It's just a backlit dark screen.

7800GTX - $249 @ Newegg.com
AMD Dual core or Intel equivalent - either the 3800 DC $150 @ Newegg.com, or the Core 2 Duo $230 @ Newegg.com.
1.5 gig of RAM. Could be anywhere from $80 to$150.
So that's around $600.
That's assuming you have everything else - monitor, tower with a good PSU, hdd, keyboard & mouse, dvd-rom, soundcard, decent sound system, etc. And you still do not get the full graphical capability of the game because you only listed DX9 specs when the game is made to run on DX10.
Besides, EA is looking to buyout Crytek, so Crysis might be the last good game that the company puts out. If EA buys them out, say bye bye to innovation and a good library of games from Crytek.
