game framerates do not rely on your cpu at all. it all depends on your gpu. The most important thing is you want to make sure your cpu itself isnt a bottleneck. With the Q6600 that is not a worry, even at stock speeds.freesafety13
that's not exactly true. with my old computer, i could get good frame rates in C&C3 with high graphic settings...but when lots of units were on screen, the fps would slow way down. cpu and gpu both play a role. however, a q6600 is not gonna bottleneck any graphics card any time soon.

i don't mind putting my keyboard + mouse pad on top of the desk....but if it's one of those desks where a tray pulls out for the keyboard + mouse pad, it has to be wide enough to fit both. i don't want just enough room for the keyboard and 5 inches left for my mouse. so if it has a tray thing, the tray has to be at least 31" wide.

sell your current card get a gtx 260 used on ebay in a year or so get a DX11 card when the prices come down that's what i'm doing. i went 8800 GT --> GTX 260
