The Switch is selling like mad. There is no way they will ever stop making dedicated hardware (unless no longer profitable). What I think is being said is once the industry as a whole moves away from that model Nintendo will adapt. Which is what every successful business must do to survive.
@OrgeLambart: I knew that but thanks...some earlier versions had Windows. Either way this still reminds me of that concept. We will all just have to wait and see how this plays out.
Overall, I feel the market is doing just fine with the 3 major players plus PC.
Feels like this is what the Steam machine set out to be years ago. The edge here is that they have one configuration in mind as those Steam machines had too many versions on the market. Regardless I think this will fail. Sure competition is healthy but gamers have the Switch, PS4, X1, 3DS (barely hanging on but still), PC and gaming laptops. The market seems crowded already and without solid exclusives I can't see this being competitive at all.
I know I said this on another article here but Nintendo really needs to bring it next year. If it wasn't for me getting a Switch in May I would have really felt the drought this year.
I rarely ever preorder games but just preordered this one. Long time MK fan so can't wait. Will sadly have to put other games aside if I want to have a chance online but it is what it is.
@proxima1025: To be fair MK games release with a ton of single player and multiplayer content. Not every game that has DLC is robbing the consumer of a full experience at launch. If you don't plan on playing online then yes waiting is your best bet.
Nintendo needs to come harder in 2019. I'm very happy they released Smash and I bought it day 1 but outside of catching up on 2017 games (Plus Mario Tennis) this year has been a let down for me.
