@heretrixPaying money to buy an entire development studio to make exclusive projects is no different. Just ask the Killzone 2 guys. I'm sure they loved the money that Sony pumped into that game. And guess what? It stays on the PS3. There is nothing different about the two things except for the scale.

The money Sony pays for 1st party development is to create a game. The money Microsoft pays for the developers is to just delay the PS3 version or stop develop.
So while Sony money is productive for the industry of developers, since create products. Microsoft money is counter productive.
Lost and dammed could be easily ported to PS3 since Rockstar already have a working engine of GTA4 for the PS3. The work would be minimal, but the microsoft money works as barrrier to create another product.
But I have to agree with you, there is nothing different about the two things except for the scale. The moral, eticals and reasoning are the same.
But the Sony PR comment still true since the reason they do that is because of 1st party exclusive insecurance.
