Uh-oh, check this out.

http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/

Scroll down until you get to "Changes in this version." It says that 'Only X1950 Pro overclocking is not supported.' :( What's with that?

Here's the deal. I'm using the HIS X1950Pro 256mb. This is the power supply that I'm using:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/124926

I've just downloaded and installed ATI Tray Tools. My default card clocks are 580mhz (core). I'm not going to overclock the memory, since I'm only using the resolution 1440 x 900. I set the fan speed to 100% then overclocked the core to 650mhz. After using the 3D renderer, temperatures started to increase from 39'c (idle) to around 45 - 48'c. After about 10 seconds, everything freezes, then crashes. My screen just turns blank, yet the PC seems to be still essentially running. I can hear the fan reduce it's noise level, meaning that it's slowed it's speed down. Then I just have to restart my computer, and everything is fine - the card has reduced it's clock speed back to defaults, and temperatures are 39'c. I've tried doing this twice, and it does the same thing both times. Note that when I overclock the core to 620mhz, everything is fine. I believe (looking at the box) that this is the "turbo" mode for the card. Well that's it. As usual, any help or suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Man I can't wait. It's going to be so awesome. Played the 360 version; I LOVED the game itself, but the analog stick pissed me off. Especially on Live, it's extremely difficult to pull off a moving headshot. Another thing aswell, when your in cover and the enemy sniper fires at the floor, gets an active reload, then waits for you to come out, you can actually really easily avoid his shots and get up close. Mostly just by rolling and wall bouncing. This is mostly due to the constant lag on the 360 I suppose, but I think the slow awkward controls also cause hindrance. Anyways, when it comes to the PC version, if you think about it, every player will have 'host' because there will be NO lag. I reckon this will get people to use cover more often.You know, imagine how deadly the shotgun will be. Instead of getting out of cover and having them stupid little duels with harlequins and constant melee, people will use cover more often. I've never really understood why games lag on my 360, and not my PC. This might not be the case for all people, but nearly everyone I've met on XBL cries 'lag!' constantly. My ping on any PC game is ALWAYS low. But that's a different matter. What do you guys think? WILL IT OWN? YES! WILL IT BE BETTER THAN THE 360 VERSION? LOL, IMO, YES! You know, we get to fight teh Brumak and the new maps and the oh everything oh oh oh! I'm so excited. Building my PC soon (arrives tomorrow), so I CAN'T WAIT to play it cranked up high on my 19" widescreen monitor! Tell me if you people are excited or not!

Oh cool is all of this true? Can someone provide links? How does the GT cope with other UE3 games? Like R6:V & MoH:A Demo? Benchmarks please!

STOP with this PC Games dying b*llsh*t. I don't care what you say, but you must think to yourself before you post this topic; "Hmm this could cause some flames." It's just trolling, except at the bare minimum. That AdrianWerner guy has already posted them great topics explaining why it's worth to be a PCGamer in 2007 and 2008. Just stop with this crap.

Yeah I know what you mean, but he's giving me advice on what I can and can't run, and he's using an 8600GT. Go on tomshardware.com or any other benchmark site and you'll see that the 8600GT really does fall behind when compared to the X1950Pro. You know, and the X1950Pro can currently max out any UE3 game out on the market....

[QUOTE="ruuuj"]

Thanks guys. So do you think this PC will run it maxed out at 1440 * 900 resolution DX9?

AMD X2 4600+

ATi X1950Pro 256MB

2GB Corsair 800mhz

Maybe not full on max, but very high?

DarxPhil

That system will more likly play it at medium to around high setting in DX9. Very good system.

No offense, but the 8600GT shatters in comparison to the X1950Pro (DX9). I'm not being an ass here, it's just that I've heard other people say that the 8600GT can't max out R6: Vegas at all. Looking at benchmarks though, the X1950Pro can max out Bioshock/R6: Vegas at good fps with my resolution. Gears might be more demanding, but I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to run it at high settings....
