Ohhh thats sound mate, music to my ears. I'm just going to go ahead with it then. It's a sick deal though yeah? Yeah I know the case is a bit meh, so I'll have to talk to my friend about that.

Oh, and I have an Antec 900 and its easily worth the extra money. HUGE fan on top, two pretty fans in front and one on the back. It looks cool and has a little tray to keep gamepads and such. USB and audio jacks are in the front, and the IEE jack in the front is especially useful for video uploading and such. The huge fan on top blows directly on the CPU/CPU Heatsink and video card. Keep it in a cool room and your whole computer will be frosty. I dont want to pressure you into buying it but if you have the extra money then its a must buy. Also, It would be much safer to get a nice BFG/EVGA/XFX 8800GT or 8800GTS. Getting an 8800GT OC is a good option as well.

A computer like that should be kickass with Crysis and other high end games.

Myrkan

Hmmm I'll have to consider the Antec 900 then. The thing is, XFX/BFG/EVGA have those extended warranties, extra bundled software, slight OCs, but is it really worth it? When you say "safer," what do you mean exactly? Is the Innovsion card just going to fail or something?

i suggest you go with the cheap 45nm dual cores. Just change the mobo and the processor because they greatly outperform the amd 90nm processors. An e8400 on NCIX is 180 bux you should go ahead and buy that.balla4162

I respect your advice, and what you say is true, Intel C2Ds and the like ARE better than AMD's range, but I don't really see the point in forking out the extra money for no performance increase in games. My friend's monitor's resolution is going to be 1600x1050, so at this point, the GPU comes into play more and the CPU becomes less of a contribution. I don't know how to explain this in computer terms, but at higher resolutions the CPU becomes, how to put it, irrelevant let's say (in most games). Also, bear in mind that I'm based in the UK, not the US.

MOUSE - Logitech RX1000 Laser Mouse 1000DPI USB - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114181

MONITOR - Samsung SM206BW 20" - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125098

GRAND TOTAL = £696.32

So then... WHEW... that's it. JUST WITHIN BUDGET ASWELL - £700! I reckon I've done a pretty good job :D

CPU - Please don't ask me to change it to Intel. I did try and use an E6550/E6750 with a Gigabyte P35-DS3R but it just went too far over my friend's budget. You can't blame me for trying.

CPU Cooling - Looks good.

MOBO - Now, here's where I'm stuck in the mud. Do you think my mobo is a good choice? Is it compatible with my other parts - RAM IN PARTICULAR?Is it good? Can it overclock pretty well?

RAM - Looks good. However, I'm open to different suggestions - as long as they're about the same price.

GPU - Very happy with this, KILLER deal - same price as 8800GT 512mb, yet faster + MUCH cooler! Plus can be Oced very well :D I suppose the only problem is the manufacturer - Innovision3D. Not the most popular of makes, but will it be OK?

HDD - Looks good.

PSU - Nobody can argue that this power supply KICKS ASS.

CASE - See, here's a problem. I'm aware that it's a cheap choice, but my mate likes it and it does have pretty good cooling (front 12cm fan, standard 8cm at the back, plus I can always install another one on the side). I would've liked to get the Antec 900, but that's like £70. However, do you think it's actually worth it to fork out an extra £50?

SPEAKERS - These babies look lovely.

KEYBOARD - Don't want anything wireless + flashy, waste of money, pathetic to be honest. This has a nice black glossy finish and doesn't have any of those multimedia keys (I HATE them) + it's made by Logitech - I love you Logitech.

MOUSE - Can you believe the price of this? To think that I got a sh***y optical Microsoft mouse for the same price - £10 :O :O My god, I'm getting one of these myself - I love you Logitech!

MONITOR - Ahhh and so it comes down to this. Thinker, eat your heart out! If you look at the reviews, a guy has said that this monitor has NO PANEL LOTTERY - EVERYONE is the same panel - THANK GOD for that then! BUT, can somebody confirm that this is true? I'm open to other suggestions - again, as long as they're around £170!

SORRY FOR LONG POST! THANKYOU FOR ANY ADVICE + SUGGESTIONS!

That would be awesome having 3 cores. I wonder how much the X2 will retail at when released?

Don't know if this is oldschool but who cares man.

399Euros including VAT eh... well 399Euros = £300 (which is good for me!) & = approx $580 - just under $600 then. Where I live (in the UK) a single 3870 costs £150, so the 3870X2 is looking to be about the same price as two 3870s. This price might also be inflated abit though by retailers, so it could drop a bit more. What d'you guys reckon?

[QUOTE="ruuuj"]Hey, this might be steering away from the topic at hand, but what's the length of the 8800GTX's PCB? The 3870X2 is as long as the GTX, correct? I want to know the PCB's length to see if it'll fit into my case.RayvinAzn

10.5" I believe.

Wow that's it?! I was expecting something along the lines of 12 inches, not 10.5! That's great then, cheers.

[QUOTE="G013M"][QUOTE="jollyriot2k1"]

I disagree, the GPU market over the last 8 months or so has been extremely dry. The biggest deal was getting the 8800GT (which is 90% as good as a GTX) for a mainstream price. The 8800GTX is still the best card on the market (the ultra is just the same at higher clocks). That card has been the top of the market for about 14 months now.

Tech_Expert

That would be becuase (this is of course IMO) ATI haven't been able to put up a decent challenge to Nvidia at the top-end, so Nvidia has been able to coast for a while. Of course the mid-high and mid-range section has been far closer.

That being said, Nvidia and ATi are both releasing new top-end cards (9800GX2 and the 3870X2) relatively soon.

The 3870X2 is just crossfire 3870.I have more hopes for 9800GX2.I really dont think that a card named 9800 would perform the way many are predicting it to be.I would expect an 8900 to perform that way but not a 9800 but we will see.

Looks like your first post was a foolish one, "Tech_Expert." Nah joke, welcome to the forums (Y). The 9800GX2 is literally just 2 8800GTs "glued" together, consisting of two PCBs. It's basically a repeat of the 7950GX2, which sucks to be honest. Oh, and it's expected to be about only 30% faster than the Ultra, which also sucks - to be honest.
