[QUOTE="mattisgod01"][QUOTE="sirkibble2"]That's because DVD's are using all the resources at maximum. You can't compare DVD to video games in the argument.sirkibble2
i wasn't comparing the two, I was using DVD's to prove that SD is capable of showing alot of detail.
They are capable of showing a lot of detail when everything is maxed out for it. The camera's used, the output, all that is optimized at max to give out the most detail on DVD's. There's no processor limitation, no RAM issues, etc. SD is very capable but only when everything is lined up correctly. That is the point. By lowering rendering resolution you reduce ram and processor issues allowing better lighting, textures, fps, etc. Watch a DVD movie such as Dark Knight or even Die Hard in 480P and look at the lighting, backround detail, facial expressions, etc. The video quality is BETTER than any PS3 or 360 video game. Not fair comparisoin you say? Yes it is, for the purpose of proving 480P can output a quality better than PS3 and 360 is capable of rendering. For a game to recreate the qualtity of those movies in-game would require a the power of about 100 PS3's or more. But they can get relatively closer to that goal rendering in 480P then they could by rendering in 720P. The point is not that the 360 could achieve movie-like special effects and real-actor like detail. Its is that by inisiting on redering in higher resolution you set your self back further from that goal. Having said that, half the people on this thread seem not capable of grasping the concepts being discussed.
