It is easy to keep in in place. The wimote is extremely accurate. It it like a mouse. If you can't hold it steady move closer to the screen and/or adjust the sensitivity. You can set the virtual window you point at to be very big giviing you more stability at the expense of having to move your wrist a wider range. If you have a steady hand and good reflexes you can adjust it accordingly or sit further away giving you a very small virtual window within witch to aim the remote.

The remote reports its position over 200 times per second through bluetooth. As long as you don't have a bright light on next to the TV it is amazingly smooth and quick.
