[QUOTE="schims"][QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]This is a big problem, but it can be fixed. Youre going to have to put in the HDMI for vision, and a VGA/Composite-Component cable at the same time. Offcourse, they cant be in at the same time because the VGA/Composite-Component cables are so thick, but there is a DIY fix where you take off the shell. This should you plug it in. Unfortunately the only way to get 5.1 for the 360 is either HDMI or opticalFirstDiscovery
I can totally live without 5.1! I was just scared of removing the plastic and damaging the wires, any tips before I attempt to remove the plastic? =o

Its minor, very easy to do trust me. And 5.1 makes a huge difference, its so hard to go back to normal crappy 2.1

ya but my speakers are only 2.1 so =D Thx for the advice dude, your a life saver, as soon as I get home that plastic is flying into the river!

You have two solutions. You buy the Xbox HDMI cable with the slimmer dongle, or you remove the thick grey plastic on your current set of cables where it goes into the xbox.Steppy_76
The HDMI cable is very thin, the AV cable is just HUGE! I though of removing the plastic from the AV cable but was afraid of ruining it, do you think it's safe?

[QUOTE="DataDream"]

HMMmm - weird - when I used to play on a monitor I had both an HDMI/DVI cable hooked up and the standard AV cable for audio and they both fit fine.

Not sure what to tell ya - maybe buy an inexpensive HDMI cable that isn't so think and try that?

Sorry for your frustrations though - that always sucks with a new "toy".

Ya tis frustrating =| I want to join the live community and pwn some nubs =D The HDMI cable is very very thin, it's the AV cable that's thick, and I mean really thick, I've even thought of sawing the plastic off, but I'm not exactly sure how the wiring is in their and don't want to ruin it.

[QUOTE="homedontplaydat"]

I dunno man try it.

If i remember correctly the white and red plugs on the audio/video cable are the left and right speakers cables.

i think the yellow plug is the video.

Your not understanding the problem, I can't conncect the av cables to the 360 with hdmi connected, and without hdmi I can't play on my monitor! The av cable is too thick and too close to the hdmi slot, so only 1 at a time is possible, at least with the cables that came with the console.

homedontplaydat
They don't fit! I can only have the hdmi OR the av cables connected, the av cable thingy is WAY to thick and is RIGHT beside the hdmi slot... Grrrrr Jandurin are those expensive? I'm not sure if they'd work anyway though, not sure if my monitor supposts optical =o If it's standard it prolly does, I'm just a nub that doesn't know much about hardware!

So I just got an xbox 360 arcade for 49 euros =D special promotion in exchange with any and I mean ANY old console u'd get an arcade model for 49 euros,7 arcade games, forza 2 and viva pinata. Sexy sexy deal.

Now the problem, I get home use my ps3's hdmi cable to hook it up to my pc monitor, and what do I find happens next, in order to get sound I need to also plug in the AV thingy or whatever it's called, but the DAMN CABLE IS TO THICK! How the hell does MS manage to make such a stupid mistake, I can only have either the hdmi cable connected with no sound, or play on my crappy SDTV with sound...

This is a seriously stupid mistake on MS's part, it feels like they just put whatever was cheapest together and didn't worry at all about the consoles desgin, it's pretty friggen loud too, and has a HUGE brick...

Anyway, does anyone know how I can fix this without wasting a butload of money?

[QUOTE="schims"][QUOTE="II-FBIsniper-II"]Buy a HDD and you should be fine.Animal-Mother
Are they expensive? I'll prolly need to get a game right away, and the point of the deal was it being dirt cheap! =D No charging packs needed? or special cables? Ohhh and will the arcade hook up to a pc monitor?

50 for a 20 gig i believe here in the states

that's a decent price!
