Merry Christmas Everyone

So I've been playing a bunch of great games and suprisingly none of them are for the PC. I've been playing Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass, Guitar Hero 3, and well I got Rock Band for christmas but I'll tell you about that later in the blog.

Out of all these the one I have been enjoying the most has definately been Mario Galaxy. The game is absolutely amazing. It's just so perfect. I'm really not usually a fan of platformers but this game is just so much fun. It's definately somewhere in my top 5 for my game of the year (btw I'll post my games of the year up on my blog sometime in January, I don't feel it's fair to say what my game of the year is when there are a few possible contenders that I haven't played yet). The co-op in Mario is really fun too. Me and my brother have been playing it together and he's had lots of fun. I think we're on our 42nd star.

So the next game I've been playing is Phantom Hour Glass. I've played most of this in the car on the way to see some relatives for Christmas. It's also been very enjoyable. I've also never been a fan of Zelda games but I've enjoyed this game a bunch. The controls are very fun since everything is controled by the touch screen and it's satisfying to figure out the puzzle and discover new islands and stuff like that.

Last game on my list is guitar hero 3, I've played all the way through it on hard, and well, It's guitar hero. I've enjoyed the song list a lot more though. They did a much better job choosing songs.

So about Rock Band. Well my mom payed for the 360 version of Rock Band, and it turns out when they brought it back to her the brought the ps3 version. I noticed this when opening it yesterday, luckily before I started pulling everything out. She's going out to pick up the 360 version right now, but I don't blame her for getting the wrong copy. She ordered the right thing, and they just brought her the wrong thing. She was also kind of frustrated because she had been waiting for a very long time to get it. Also if you look on the Rock Band box the console it is for is easily found. You have to look for it.

Also my brother has gotten into world of warcraft. I think he has a lvl 11 dwarf hunter, but it's really annoying he always asks me to play. I'm done with wow though. It's fun and I casually play it sometimes with my friends because it's the only way to get in touch with some of them, but I definately don't play it as much as I use to.

Well anyway that's been what I've been playing this week. I'm probably going to buy Company of Heroes: opposing fronts. Steam is having a huge sell. So I'll probably buy that and some other stuff from the steam store soon.

Is Crysis Better or Worse the Second Time Through?

Well I've found that it is much better the second time through. I'm also playing on the hardest difficulty so that might make a difference. Anyway I found that after I understood the game a little more I enjoyed it much more the second time through. I had a better feel of the game and new how to use all the abilities slightly better. I also found that when the silencer is taken off your gun you do much more damage than normal and it makes a big difference. The enemies are much easier to take out with out the silencer. Although I still think sometimes it takes to many shots to take them down sometimes you can take them out with 2 shots to the chest or of course 1 shot to the head also does the trick. So anyway if you played through Crysis one time and it didn't live up to your expectations, trying it around the second time on a harder difficulty with more understanding of the gameplay. I believe it's much more enjoyable then.

Two Worlds My First Impressions

Well so far I've wasted about two hours on two worlds. It's probably the worst game I've played in awhile. The game looks horrible the combat is not fun to me. It's just boring. It just doesn't seem to do anything right. Luckly I did not purchase this game and just rented it out of gamefly. It's going back tomorow though. I wanted to give the game a try though. You know it's just an average game and it doesn't live up to my standards of what a game should be. So in case you don't already know this I don't recommend this game.

GameSpot Will Live On

I know this site has been through a lot these past few days but we need to stick with it. GameSpot is not going to stop doing what it does. Jeff contributed a lot to this community and just because he's gone his contributions to this site will stay. Everyone needs to keep their head up. GameSpot will live on. Just give it a chance to get everything straight. I'm we'll see Jeff somewhere again sometime.

What's Up With Holiday Gift Guides?

I don't understand what's up with all these holiday gift guides on game websites and game magazines. They all feel like they're targeted to a less hardcore group of gamers. And I don't think any of my relatives would be looking at this site to see what to get me for christmas. I don't think I've ever seen my grandma go to gamespot or even pick up a gaming magazine. I just thought I'd point that out. If you make a holiday gift guide aim it toward the people who will be reading it and if it's on a gaming site the chances are that the person reading it is already informed enough to know what games are good.

Jeff Fired?

wow, um i just figured out about this today. All I have to say is that probably wasn't the smartest idea on gamespot's part consideringeveryone is leaving the sightand a game should be given the score it deserves.

Update!

This just an update on the games I've been playing. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Anyway I finished Crysis and CoD4. They were both great. I'm going through CoD4 on veteran and I'm on the last level but veteran is so freakin hard. I've played one part of that level at least 100 times. I really enjoyed Crysis, but the last half of the game wasn't as good. It was almost like a completely different game. In the first half you have tons of freedom but in the second half the game gets more linear. Anyway it was still a fun game and it looked great. I enjoyed pushing my PC to its limits. Another game I played this past week, which i rented from gamefly, was GRAW2. I've played some ghost recons but I've never played GRAW.I likedthe feel of it and it's probably my favorite ghost recon game yet. I went through the game at elevated risk which I would say is probably the wayit's meant to be played because even though it's the highest difficulty it's not neccessarily hard but more realistic. Basically you can only get shot about two times and you have to use cover and everything given, to you like your UAVs and your squad, as much as you can. So that was a good game. I've sent it back to game fly and the next game I should be getting is Assasin's Creed and if not that AceCombat 6. So I'll be looking forward to that. Some other things I've been playing is TF2 of course. I finally talked one of my friends into buying it. He was a little skeptical at first but now he loves it. I've also been playing some World in Conflict and I've had a sudden urge to play Company of Heroes I still have to download a few patches to play on multiplayer so I haven't played it yet but I'll probably play that soon. I want to get the expansion sometime. That was such a great game. I don't know why I stopped playing it. Shawn Elliott from GFW keeps talking about CoH Opposing Fronts on GFW Radio and it just reminds me how good CoH is.Anyway there are just too many good games out now. Oh well I guess I can't complain. It's actually a good thing. There are just so many good games. Anyway thats all I've got for now. Check back later. I'm out.
