@DraconisRex: Saying "we're tentatively aiming for April of 2015" is not a delay. It means they don't have enough info to give an accurate date. There's too many moving parts and unforseen circumstances in software development.
@repulsive44552: What features exactly have they added? I keep hearing detractors say this, but they can never name these "added features".
They haven't done a stretch goal in over a year. And of the ones they did do, the majority were just new ships or little things like a plant. Very few added features. The rest just expanded a bit on already existing features.
@G4mBi7: Wow....did you just call the Escapist "credible"? LOL
They really have some amazing vetting processes there. Considering one of the ways they vetted their "sources" was because the source showed them a "photo ID". Funny thing....CIG doesn't even have a company ID, let alone one with a photo on it.
@dexfm: Uhh..seriously? DOTA and SWOTOR were not crowdfunded games. They had a Publisher who funded the game. Any preorder they took, went to sales/profits and was split between the publisher and developer.
Star Citizen doesn't have a publisher. Any dollar they take in, goes towards the development and sustainment of the game. They won't get any sales/profit until after they start to release.
@amirfoox: This game would not exist if not for the funding. People are backing the game with a lot of money because it's a developer who is actually trying to give the fans the game they want, rather than just another piece of shovelware. And there's plenty of people out there that make over 6 figures and have no issues dropping a lot of money on a project that is trying to do something new.
No one is forcing you to buy it. And if you do buy it, no one is forcing you to spend a dollar more than the base package price.
@ecurl143: Pardon me for not assuming the entire company is lying. If you want to accuse them of that, that's on you. But they have officially stated many times that every dollar they get from funding BEFORE the game is released, goes into the development and sustainment of the game. And part of development includes getting the proper supplies to do so. That includes PCs, offices, desks, and chairs. It's called the cost of doing business.
