I got hitman blood money today and when i go to play it the game tells me to change my display settings from 50hz to 60z, which is odd because im running my xbox in hd using hdmi meanings it has to be 60hz and no other game has had this problem.

A quick look online shows me that for some reason hitman blood money check your standard def settings (which id never use) not your high def ones and that to fix the problem you need to change to SD using the composite cable and change them there. the problem is im using HDMI and have no clue where my component/composite cable is.

So is there any way to change your PAL hz settings without going into SD?

The 360 is without a doubt the best console software wise this gen, but almost all this is ruined by rediculously shoddy hardware.

I bought a 360 August last year, it RROD during the store warrenty so i returned it and got an elite and was relieved to find out it was a falcon model with the 175w power supply.

So i was enjoying the great array of titles that were coming out on the 360 when i noticed the benq drive within my elite was making grinding noises on startup and even occasionly during games, a quick google of the problem showed i was not alone and that most benq drives make this noise. So i got a disk drive that sounds like a cement mixer a bit unlucky i suppose but at least it wasn't faulty, right?

But it wasn't until an extended playthrough of COD 4 online that I began to get worried. My 360 was gurgling and grinding so loud i could barely hear the game, so I took out the disk and noticed scratches all over it, inspecting all my other games i notice they are the same. I ring up microsoft and have my xbox shipped away for repairs.

2 weeks later it comes back and i continue playing my scratched but still usable games on the repaired console but to my dismay again, it still makes the same grinding noises. I ring up microsoft again about sending them my 360 again, tell them my situation and ask if there's is anyway i could recieve a new or refurbished console instead of my own one back because the same problems persists, the girl on the phone says that shouldn't be a problem and i send it back to them again.

A month passes by (during which MGS4 comes out so I wasn't complaining too much) and i get my xbox back, i check the lot number and find that it is once again my original elite and after putting in a brand new copy of lost oddysey find more scratches on it after playing for an hour.

So to sum up my rant: i send my 360 in twice and the problem still persists and i much prefer my 360 to my ps3.

WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?

i replaced my pro with an elite last December and occasionally the disk drive would make a grinding noises on startup and when disks are idle, looking on forums here and there i heard that benq drives are known to make these noises (I'm using a benq drive) but more recently I've been getting the noise more often, particularly in games where the disk speed slows down at parts ilike gears and cod 4. Im also starting to notice small scatches here and there on some of my games.

So I'm asking, should i be worried by this noise and get it replaced (even though where this close to gta 4 launch) or is this not a problem?

Best Looking Racer: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Best Looking Third Person Action: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Best Looking Platformer: Ratchet & Clank Future

Best Looking RPG: Mass Effect

Best Looking Sports Title: MLB 08: The Show

Best Looking Fighter: Dead or Alive 4

.......4 of the 6 genres are IMO led by PS3 exclusives. Sony has yet to release an exclusive fighter/rpg.....and what we have seen of them hasnt been enough to draw conclusions. (FFXIII & Tekken 6)

Uptown

You forgot best looking FPS which imo would have to be bioshock on 360. and if i really wanted to push it best looking strategy game would be command and conquer 3 on 360, evening the scores.

I would say yes, my november 2008 elite scratches all my disc a little bit, nowhere near enough to stop em playing but there definetly there, i dont move my 360 from its horizontal position at all so its something in the xbox.
