The software then: The PS3 got off on a good start but couldn't really hold its incredibly high price point. Fall of Man marked the highlight of the PS3's launch, but not the game that was going to make people drop hundreds of dollars.
The software now: Of course everything here is subjective, but the amount of exclusives and critical acclaim is undeniable. Still holding the only AAAAE of the generation, the PS3 has a wealth of exclusives that better support its price. PSN is also expanded to include tons of PSP, PS and PSN exclusive games.
The controller then: Was too light, the rumble was gone.
The controller now: Rumblefull! Much heavier (in a good sense) and it now comes standard.
The price then: $500 for 20GB - $600 60GB.
The price now: $300 for 120GB.
I'm basically trying to express how impressive the advancements Sony has made for it's system. It went from being an overpriced financial disaster to a true contender in this generation.
